一木难支的成语故事

一木难支的典故

南北朝宋顺帝的时候，萧道成把持政权，杀害忠良，横行恣肆，大有篡夺王室的企图。当时大臣袁粲和齐东两人，秘密商量要杀死萧道成，但事机不密，反被萧道成的同党褚渊知道了，把秘密告诉萧道成。道成十分恼怒，立刻派部将戴僧静率邻了很多人马去攻打袁粲，把城池团团围住了。

这时，袁粲对他的儿子袁最说：“我明知道一根木柱不能支持一座大厦的崩塌，但為了名誉义节，不得不死守下去。”后来，戴僧静率领部下越墙冲进城里去，在敌人的刀枪剑戟下，袁最勇敢地用身体去掩护他的父亲。这时，袁粲对他的儿子袁最说：“我是个忠臣，你是个孝子，我们死而无愧。” 结果他们父子俩都牺牲了。
