春秋时期，孔子带领弟子周游列国，经历卫、陈、蔡等国的碰壁后，从叶邑出来迷了路，子路前去问路，回来后发现不见了孔子，就问地里耕种的农夫，农夫说：“四体不勤，五谷不分，孰为夫子？”子路发现遇到德高的隐者，只好自己寻找。
