一蟹不如一蟹的典故

宋代时，有一个叫陶谷的人，字秀实。此人有一种嗜好——爱吃螃蟹。有一次，陶谷奉朝廷派遣出使吴越（五代时十国之一，在今浙江、江苏西南和福建东北部一带），吴越国的忠懿王设宴招待他。因为陶谷喜欢吃螃蟹，所以忠懿王命人在宴席上摆出了各种各样的螃蟹，从大到小，一共摆了十几种。陶谷见状，笑着说：“这可真是一蟹不如一蟹啊！”“一蟹不如一蟹”原意是说螃蟹一只不如一只。后来，人们将其引为成语，常用来比喻一个不如一个，越来越差。
