东汉末年，曹操想一统天下，接连打败刘表、刘琦，将刘备赶出新野，迫近东吴。孙权心里慌张，派鲁肃请诸葛亮到东吴商议联合抗曹。张昭看不起诸葛亮，说他根本没本事辅佐刘备，弄得现今的燃眉之急。诸葛亮舌战群儒取得胜利。
