征尘里桂香消减，月光下练影成空。
行动定止由关吏，空为塞上翁悲吟。
注释
①桂香：指马饰物的香气。
②练影：丝质马饰物的形影。
③定惑：意含双关，指马的行止，也指人的禅定与迷妄。
④塞上翁：作者自指，也以善知祸福的塞翁自喻。
从驾闾山咏马鉴赏
在隋末战乱中由陇西贵族建立的唐朝，战马享受到了其他朝代望尘莫及的待遇。唐朝人养马、用马、爱马、赞马，可是，上官仪的这首诗却让读者听到了另一种声音，那是一种低沉的悲吟，他在为马的命运而嗟叹。人们将马饰以名贵的香料、绮丽的锦绣，但这改变不了马受人驾驭的命运。征尘里它的香气全都飘散，夜行时即使衣之以锦绣也毫无意义。从桂香与练影的易消易逝，作者写出荣华富贵毕竟成空。又从马的受人驾驭，表现对不能自主的命运的哀叹。马不知自悲，人为之悲；可世上那些贪求富贵而为命运摆布的人，又有谁为他们而悲呢。在人对马的嗟叹声中，所蕴含的，实际上是觉悟者对未悟者的嗟叹。

上官仪（约608～665年1月4日）字游韶，陕州陕县（今河南三门峡陕县）人，生于江都。贞观初，擢进士第，召授弘文馆直学士，迁秘书郎。唐高宗时供职门下省，颇受唐高宗和武则天的赏识。龙朔二年（662年），成为宰相。后来高宗不满武后跋扈，上官仪向高宗建议废后，高宗亦以为然，由上官仪草诏。武后涕泣陈请，事遂中缀，自此武后深恶上官仪。麟德元年（664年），上官仪被诛，家产和人口被抄没，其一子上官庭芝也同时被诛杀。中宗即位后，因上官庭芝女上官婉儿为昭容，对上官仪父子有所追赠，绣像凌烟阁，追封为楚国公。
