译文
胸中自有军事谋略，想要试炼一番却没有门路，空怀豪情。
草书如同行军打仗，书写前喝酒，好似军中的旗鼓以壮声威，手中的笔好似战士的刀枪，其气势如同银河从天上倾泻而下。
以端溪出产的砚台磨墨，在烛光的照耀下，下笔纵横如飞。
瞬间就完成草书，又端杯饮酒，就像打了一场胜仗，消除国难，恢复了太平，感觉酣畅淋漓。
有志男儿当建立功业，有所立身，金人侵略者的命运已尽，应当去平定他们。
何时才能够像汉朝时在五原塞出兵讨伐匈奴那样北伐金人呢？我已能想象到我军队伍十分整肃的场景，只听到扬鞭催马的声音，而没有人语声。
注释
磊落：众多错杂的样子。
五兵：即古代戈、殳、戟、酋矛、夷矛等五种兵器，此处借指用兵韬略。《宋史·范仲淹传》：“胸中自有数万甲兵谓。”
峥嵘（zhēngróng）：山势高峻的样子，此处喻满怀豪情。
槊（shuò）：长矛，古代兵器之一。
银河：天河，晴朗夜空中云状光带，望去像河。
端溪石池：指端砚，为名砚。端溪在今广东高要县，古属端州。
须臾（xūyú）：片刻，一会儿。
烟尘清：比喻战斗结束。
丈夫：大丈夫，陆游自指。
在：存。
立：指立身处世，即立德、立言、立功。
逆虏：指金侵略者。
运：国运，气数。
行：将。
五原塞：在今内蒙古自治区五原县，汉时曾从此处出兵，北伐匈奴。

题醉中所作草书卷后创作背景
此诗作于孝宗淳熙三年(1176)三月，陆游52岁，在成都范成大幕府。诗人精通书法，尤擅长草书，几乎出神入化。于是由醉中作草书，联想到用兵，实为妙哉！

陆游是南宋有名的书法家，由于胸藏五兵，欲试无路，因此引起下面借酒浇愁、作书泄愤的生动描绘。三至六句在我们面前展示了一幅醉中作草书的生动画面：笔力千钧，如银河从天倾泻；烛光与浓重的墨色相映，诗人走笔纵横，真是“左盘右蹙如惊电，状同楚汉相攻战。”（李白《草书歌行》）诗人把为国平胡尘的战斗场面和整个草书的过程（蓄势、疾书、书成）以及高度的草书技巧自然而紧密地结合起来了。比喻的运用也十分成功。“须臾收卷复把酒，如见万里烟尘清”，写出扫敌人，平逆虏后的清平景象和诗人的得意神情。“何时夜出五原塞，不闻人语闻鞭声！”最后两句呼应开头，直接表达了诗人渴望参加收复国土战斗的迫切心情。给人展示了一幅夜袭敌营的生动画面，而诗人纵马疾驰、英勇矫健的身影也跃然在目。
诗中借醉中作草书的情况，表达了诗人为国立功的思想感情。诗中表明作者为国征战的愿望无法实现，便把豪情寄托于饮酒和写字当中。诗人从作草书联想到用兵，表现他时时处处不能忘情于收复国土。最后，诗人又从书、酒之中返回到现实，盼望着早日出关塞、平逆虏、立军功。

陆游（1125—1210），字务观，号放翁。汉族，越州山阴（今浙江绍兴）人，南宋著名诗人。少时受家庭爱国思想熏陶，高宗时应礼部试，为秦桧所黜。孝宗时赐进士出身。中年入蜀，投身军旅生活，官至宝章阁待制。晚年退居家乡。创作诗歌今存九千多首，内容极为丰富。著有《剑南诗稿》、《渭南文集》、《南唐书》、《老学庵笔记》等。
