译文
热切地盼望能得到她的消息，然而她却音信杳然。她如今在哪里呢？到底在哪里呢？今夜她是否也在相思徘徊，不能成眠？
香销被冷灯灭，令人增愁添恨，唯有在这寂静的夜里一遍遍默数着与她相逢的日期。然而相约之期已过，会面无期，怎不叫人愁苦怨尤呢。
注释
采桑子：又名丑奴儿，罗敷媚等。双调四十四字，上下片各四句三平韵。
彤霞：代指仙境。宋赵鼎《燕归梁》：“绰约彤霞降紫霄，是仙子风标。”
飞琼：仙女名，后泛指仙女。
谁边：何处，哪里。
玉清：有两说。一是道家三清境之一，为元始天尊所居。二是神仙名。
心期：心愿，心意。
下弦：农历每月二十二日或二十三日，太阳跟地球的连线和地球跟月亮的连线成直角时，在地球上看到月亮呈反“D”字形，这种月相称下弦。

采桑子·彤霞久绝飞琼字创作背景
据清人笔记，纳兰曾爱恋过一名宫女，这首词可能是为其而作，乃词人为表达自己的思念之情而作的一首词。

采桑子·彤霞久绝飞琼字鉴赏
这首《采桑子》，上片写仙境，下片写人间。天上人间，凡人仙女，音书隔绝，唯有心期。
第一句“彤霞久绝飞琼字”，便点出仙家况味。仙子已经多日没有书信了，那么，既无书信可通，不知道仙女此时在哪里，她为什么还不寄信给我，她心里到底在想着什么，叠唱“人在谁边”，叹息不已。
词的下片，由天上回落人间，由想象仙女的情态转入对自我状态的描写。“香消被冷残灯灭灭”，房房间是清冷的，所以房间的主人定也是清冷的，房间的主人不把灭掉的香继续点燃，不盖上被子去暖暖地睡觉，就算是夜深独坐，也不把灭掉的灯烛重新燃起。
因为，房间的主人想不到这些，他只是坐在漆黑的房间里“静数秋天”，默默地计算着日子。等待的日子总是十分难挨，等待中的时间总是十分漫长。待到惊觉的时候，才发现“又误心期到下弦”。
就在这一天天的苦挨当中，不知不觉地晃过了多少时光。这最后一句，语义模糊，难于确解，但意思又是再明朗不过的。若“着相”来解，可以认为容若与仙女有约于月圆之日，却一直苦等不来，挨着挨着，便已是下弦月的时光了；若“着空”来解，可以认为容若以满月象征团圆，以下弦月象征缺损，人生总是等不来与爱侣团圆的日子，一天一天便总是在缺损之中苦闷地度过。

纳兰性德（1655－1685），满洲人，字容若，号楞伽山人，清代最著名词人之一。其诗词“纳兰词”在清代以至整个中国词坛上都享有很高的声誉，在中国文学史上也占有光采夺目的一席。他生活于满汉融合时期，其贵族家庭兴衰具有关联于王朝国事的典型性。虽侍从帝王，却向往经历平淡。特殊的生活环境背景，加之个人的超逸才华，使其诗词创作呈现出独特的个性和鲜明的艺术风格。流传至今的《木兰花令·拟古决绝词》——“人生若只如初见，何事秋风悲画扇？等闲变却故人心，却道故人心易变。”富于意境，是其众多代表作之一。
