译文
化了梅蕊的新妆以及桂叶的眉毛，小莲的风韵就像仙女出了瑶池。云雾随着歌声开始转动，雪花绕着舞动的双袖慢慢下垂。
感伤离别容易，可恨欢乐来得太晚。诗篇、信笺无由寄送，行人不要断然离去就伤神凄然，每逢七夕、牛郎、织女尚有相会之期。
注释
鹧鸪天：词牌名。又名“思佳客”、“半死桐”、“思越人”、“醉梅花”。双调，五十五字，上、下片各三平韵。
小莲：歌女名。瑶池：传说中神仙居所。
“汉渚”句：每逢七夕、牛郎、织女尚有相会之期。汉渚（zhǔ）：银河岸边，即牛郎、织女相会之地。星桥：以星为桥，指神话中的鹊桥。

鹧鸪天·梅蕊新妆桂叶眉创作背景
据张草纫《二晏词笺注》，此词大约作于宋神宗元丰五年（1082年）叔原将赴颍昌许田镇之时，小莲在筵席上唱歌送别，叔原为作此词。此时叔原已十分贫困，故曰“惜无红锦为裁诗”，以作缠头之酬也。

鹧鸪天·梅蕊新妆桂叶眉鉴赏
此词描写歌妓小莲。上片写她貌若天仙，风韵妖娆，歌舞技艺也高妙非常。两个对偶句，是修辞炼句的重点所在，尤见作者的功力。“云随绿水歌声转，雪绕红绡舞袖垂”，词人抓住了歌唱的清亮高亢，以行云、流水作比喻，抓住了舞蹈的飘动回旋，以飞雪、垂袖作比喻，取得了很好的艺术效果。强调色彩，强调动态，词句更加鲜明生动。
下片从离别相思的角度描写小莲的内心世界。别易欢迟，是她的总体感受，故而放在过片之处，用作引领。“惜无红锦为裁诗”，是说诗篇、信笺无由寄送，其忧愁难以表述；结句告诫“行人”，不要断然离去不予眷顾，牛郎、织女尚且期待着一年一度的相会，切不可让多情的“思妇”失望。
想必此时，晏几道已经颇为贫困潦倒，所以才会前往许田镇做一个监税的小官，才会感叹连给歌女的“缠头”之资也无从筹措。但也因为许田镇离汴京并不遥远，未来总有可期，所以这首离歌还是寄寓着许多希望。

晏几道（1030-1106，一说1038—1110 ，一说1038-1112），男，汉族，字叔原，号小山，著名词人，抚州临川文港沙河（今属江西省南昌市进贤县）人。晏殊第七子。历任颍昌府许田镇监、乾宁军通判、开封府判官等。性孤傲，晚年家境中落。词风哀感缠绵、清壮顿挫。一般讲到北宋词人时，称晏殊为大晏，称晏几道为小晏。《雪浪斋日记》云：“晏叔原工小词，不愧六朝宫掖体。”如《鹧鸪天》中的“舞低杨柳楼心月，歌尽桃花扇底风”等等词句，备受人们的赞赏。
