译文
一顾倾吴的故事流传至今，主角西施就不见了，眼前只有生养西施的鉴湖烟雾迷茫。当时事就像下棋，也是天意。文种大夫逝去可惜，更可笑人间，千年变幻有如昨天。我游玩已疲倦，夜里泛舟想静一下，似有水鸟呼我。
蓬莱阁对面的秦望山一片碧绿，只怕山下越王故垒，长满了草，时下砍柴人正在光顾。如今倚栏杆一笑，但并不高兴。有侍女唱歌，又请松林之风伴奏，确是乐事。可我更希望等到西山月落下，大宋江山百鸟齐唱的黎明。
注释
⑴汉宫春：词牌名。《高丽史·乐志》名《汉宫春慢》。《梦窗词集》入“夹钟商”。此词九十六字，前后片各四平韵。
⑵蓬莱阁：指浙江绍兴卧龙山的蓬莱阁。
⑶一顾倾吴：指西施的故事。吴王夫差得西施荒废朝政，最终被越国所灭。
⑷苎萝人：指西施。西施出生于越国苎萝村。
⑸重湖：即鉴湖，在浙江绍兴西南。
⑹对弈：下棋。此处喻指吴、越两国之争。
⑺大夫：指越国大夫文种。卧龙山旧称种山，此处有文种墓，文种有功而被杀。
⑻须臾：表示很短的时间，片刻之间。
⑼秦山：即秦望山，在绍兴东南。秦望山有秦始皇游赏时的石碑。
⑽越王故垒：指越王勾践筑的越王台，在卧龙山西侧。
⑾樵苏：打柴割草。
⑿小丛解唱：侍女盛小丛善于唱歌。
⒀竽：笙一类的乐器。
⒁月落：这里指黎明。
⒂啼鸟：指鸣叫的鸟类。

汉宫春·次韵稼轩蓬莱阁创作背景
此词当作于宋宁宗嘉泰三年（1203年）下半年。当年六月，辛弃疾被重新起用，任命为知绍兴府兼浙东安抚使。到任后，曾与姜夔等人同登蓬莱阁，辛弃疾作《汉宫春·会稽蓬莱阁怀古》，姜夔作此词和之。

汉宫春·次韵稼轩蓬莱阁鉴赏
此词是为辛弃疾《汉宫春·会稽蓬莱阁怀古》而作的和词。辛弃疾原词主旨是借吴越之争题，发心中愤概，论人间沧桑，议南宋“被西风”“变灭”形势，也流露出辛弃疾当时对朝庭的不满和难以改变现实时悲凉情绪。
姜夔这首词是就西施之事展开，开篇就是一句：一顾倾吴。把美人计的主角西施一顾，致使吴国倾覆事实点破，接着说此人如今不见了，只留眼前生养西施的鉴湖水面上的烟雾。姜夔就此发表议论：吴越之争，犹如一场下棋游戏，把你死我活的战场说成是游戏，这是姜夔为下文埋下伏笔。游戏并非天意，而是人为。文种大夫被杀，岂是功带来的罪。可笑人世间，千年不过是顷刻之间变化。姜夔此刻笔端一转，说我好似游戏疲倦了，夜中泛一舟图个清闲，然而耳边觉得有人呼我。世间就是这样，逝者已逝去，活者就有责任活。无法清闲下来，责任使然。姜夔用“水鸟相呼”喻世间不平静，有责任的人不能平静。“有倦客，扁舟夜泛，犹疑水鸟相呼”即是对前面的总结，又起到承上启下的作用，为下片打好了坚实的基础。
词下片开始仍借古迹述事，进一步宣发议论与感慨。接着又是一笔“笑”字，可这笑无法笑出来，是苦笑，笑得很不痛快。仔细想来，吴越之争当然不是一场游戏。虽然这时辛大将军热情招待词人，派小丛为了解除他的忧伤给他唱歌，并请来山林之中的松风伴奏，有美妙的乐曲，这应是人生快事。按说辛这么高的规格接待姜，应该是姜高兴的事，可是姜夔就是高兴不起来。姜夔千里迢迢从杭州赶来绍兴，不为听音乐，那为什么而来呢？姜夔此词的收拍点明心中所期盼的大事。“更坐待，千岩月落，城头眇眇啼鸟。”这是说：我姜夔活在世间都有水鸟相呼，你辛大将军责任重大，用音乐、美味招待我并非我所愿，我姜夔所期盼的是希望你辛大将军领军北伐，我在黑夜里等待你带来大宋朝的黎明时刻，让我听到城头百鸟争鸣。
辛弃疾原词以吴越之争论人间冷暖，世间沧桑，云雨变化在倾刻，称赞范蠡与西施隐居的生活快乐，冷观吴越霸业的消亡，仍有归隐思想。姜夔的词紧贴吴越之争典故，点明西施起到了“一顾倾吴”的作用，历史人物不在，故事存留，活着的人要有责任。姜夔以自己还有“水鸟相呼”，责任在身，力劝辛弃疾要为国家做事，特别是此和词的收拍，让人寻味。

姜夔，南宋文学家、音乐家。人品秀拔，体态清莹，气貌若不胜衣，望之若神仙中人。往来鄂、赣、皖、苏、浙间，与诗人词家杨万里、范成大、辛弃疾等交游。庆元中，曾上书乞正太常雅乐，他少年孤贫，屡试不第，终生未仕，一生转徙江湖，靠卖字和朋友接济为生。他多才多艺，精通音律，能自度曲，其词格律严密。其作品素以空灵含蓄著称，有《白石道人歌曲》等。姜夔对诗词、散文、书法、音乐，无不精善，是继苏轼之后又一难得的艺术全才。
