半天风雨如秋。怪石於菟，老树钩娄，苔绣禅阶，尘黏诗壁，云湿经楼。琴调冷声闲虎丘，剑光寒影动龙湫。醉眼悠悠，千古恩仇。浪卷胥魂，山锁吴愁。

译文
半空中风雨布生，给大地罩上了秋天般的气氛。
怪石像猛虎或卧或蹲，古树伛偻着屈曲的树身。
寺院的台阶上蒙着绿苔，两旁的诗壁上沾满了灰尘，藏经楼偎伴着浮云，也显得那样的湿冷。
虎丘塔边再听不到古时的琴声，龙潭水粼粼摇动，仿佛存留着宝剑的寒影。
我睁开悠悠的醉眼，回顾历史上的虎斗龙争。
如今只见浪涛卷动着伍子胥的英魂，青山无语地锁留着吴国灭亡的怨恨。
注释
虎丘：在江苏苏州市西北，相传春秋时有虎踞丘上三日，故名。
於菟（wū tú）：虎的别称。
钩娄：枝干屈曲伛偻的样子。
琴调冷声闲虎丘：虎丘寺塔基，原为晋司徒王珣的琴台，故谓“琴调冷”。
剑光寒影动龙湫：虎丘有剑池，相传吴王阖庐以宝剑殉葬，后秦始皇开掘找寻，有神龙跃出而成池。湫，深潭。
胥魂：相传春秋时伍子胥为吴王夫差所杀，精魂不散，成了涛神。
吴愁：春秋时吴国终为越国所灭，故言。

折桂令·风雨登虎丘鉴赏
作者以自己的思想感情通过景物描绘传达给读者，是中国诗歌艺术表现的常法。该曲的特点，即是将虎丘的群景有意识地作为诗人怀古意绪的外化。所以在曲中，“半天风雨”虽颇具典型性，却并非作者着力表现的主体，仅作为一种冷色调氛围的构成因素。这种严冷的色调，正是作者抚今追昔、“千古恩仇”的内心情潮的折射。曲中写怪石老树，以及“苔绣”、“尘黏”、“云湿”，并不着重于风雨的介入，而更多地体现出岁月风霜的影响；“琴调冷”、“剑光寒”两句，更是老练地将古迹的历史与现状沟通。这种取景传象的手法，正是古人所说的“思接千载”，以及对待景物的“取其势而不取其质”。
当然，作者也并非将“风雨登虎丘”的“风雨”完全置于一旁，结尾两句“浪卷胥魂，山锁吴愁”，便重又巧妙地转回到了风雨的影响。须知虎丘旁只有一条叫山塘的小溪，无“浪”可言，而虎丘本身明秀佳丽，也很难与“锁愁”的形象联系在一起。然而在“半天风雨如秋”的特定情景下就有所不同，风雨凄迷，天地山川足以为之改容。这两句既是怀古意绪的延伸，又是对风雨虎丘峭冷景象的添写，可谓虚实相兼。

乔吉(1280?～1345) 元代杂剧家、散曲作家。一称乔吉甫，字梦符，号笙鹤翁，又号惺惺道人。太原人，流寓杭州。钟嗣成在《录鬼簿》中说他“美姿容，善词章，以威严自饬，人敬畏之”，又作吊词云：“平生湖海少知音，几曲宫商大用心。百年光景还争甚？空赢得，雪鬓侵，跨仙禽，路绕云深。”从中大略可见他的为人。剧作存目十一，有《杜牧之诗酒扬州梦》、《李太白匹配金钱记》、《玉箫女两世姻缘》三种传世。
