翠鳌涌出沧溟，影横栈壁迷烟墅。楼台对起，阑干重凭，山川自古。梁苑平芜，汴堤疏柳，几番晴雨。看天低四远，江空万里，登临处、分吴楚。
两岸花飞絮舞。度春风、满城箫鼓。英雄暗老，昏潮晓汐，归帆过橹。淮水东流，塞云北渡，夕阳西去。正凄凉望极，中原路杳，月来南浦。

译文
都梁山涌出茫茫江海，穿越栈道峭壁在烟云迷蒙的原野上流过。在这楼台叠立之处登高再次凭栏远望，看这亘古不变的山川湖泽。梁苑平坦无壑，汴堤上绿柳万棵，曾经历了几番晴日晒照又经过几番风吹雨打。看天空远远地与大地接连，江河万里空荡无边。我登临的高山正是吴、楚的界线。
落花飞絮飘舞在两岸，春风一到，山下满城锣鼓喧天。英雄已渐渐地衰老，黄昏和拂晓、涨潮又退潮，载着不断归来的白帆、摇不完的橹篙。淮水难阻向东流淌，边塞以北云雾缭绕，残阳西沉余晖斜照。我正在凄凉的景象中远望，中原之路茫茫渺渺，一轮明月升上江河南岸的树梢。
注释
水龙吟：词牌名。又名《水龙吟令》《龙吟曲》《水龙吟慢》《鼓笛慢》《小楼连苑》《海天阔处》《庄椿岁》《丰年瑞》。双调，押仄韵，体式甚多。字数不同，句读有异。上片第一句或六言，或七言，上下片各四仄韵。
翠鳌（áo）涌出沧溟：形容青山险峻如同一个巨鳌在大海中浮出。
影横栈壁迷烟墅：远望山上的屋舍被烟雾所笼罩。
梁苑：园囿名，在今河南开封，汉梁孝王筑，为游赏与延宾之所，当时著名文人如司马相如与枚乘皆出入其间。
汴（biàn）堤：指流经开封的汴河，为隋炀帝所建，堤上遍种柳树。
江空万里，登临处、分吴楚：指淮水空阔无限，登山远望，吴楚两地被淮水划开。吴，指长江中下游地区，包括江苏和浙江一带。楚，战国时楚国占有南方的大部分土地，包括江苏、江西、湖北、湖南、安徽、四川等地。
橹（lǔ）：船橹，安于船尾的划水工具。
南浦：南面的水边。后常用称送别之地。

水龙吟·翠鳌涌出沧溟创作背景
作者身处南宋末期，北方蒙古正虎窥江南，南宋江山大有朝不保夕的危险。故面对淮水两岸的青山，作者联想到曾经作为宋金分界线的淮水，最终未能阻挡金兵南下，由此写下这首词。

上片，写眼前无限开阔凄迷的景象。一个“涌”字，将静立的大山写得极富有动感。如此突兀奇崛的神来之笔，能感受到他那无穷的诗思也是从这里喷涌而出，读者很自然地就想起吴文英登苏州灵岩山的天外奇想：“渺空烟四远，是何年、青天坠长星？”（《八声甘州》）天上掉下的巨旱，水中涌出的巨鳌，真是异曲而同工。“影横”句写山问黄昏暮霭景象。“楼台对起”三句，交代自己重来登临以及全词的“视点”所在。山川依旧，是词人两次来此凭栏的感受，也隐含了对南北对峙形势发生了变化而南宋仍然偏安一隅、仍然划淮水为疆界的喟叹。词人举目北望，但见天低四远，江空万里。梁苑和汴堤都极其遥远，非目力所能及，想象之中他似乎已经看到了一片荒芜野草的梁苑，垂柳稀疏的运河。它们与苦难的民族一起经历了许多的风风雨雨。
下片，词人抒发厂自己英雄失路的激愤和中原恢复遥遥无期的悲哀。淮水两岸已经习惯了南北分裂的既成事实，众人皆醉，沉浸在春风箫鼓之中，没有人能够理解像自己这样系念中原恢复的英雄。夕阳向西沉去，淮水往东流淌，边塞的云北去，月亮初照南浦，东南西北，同人苍茫独立于中，深情地北望中原。送别是送别谁，是青春还是英雄之志，还是与中原父老从此水别，多少凄凉感慨都在此不言之中。
全词写得壮烈激昂，掷地有声，颇具特色。该词感情沉郁低回，不事雕饰，风格较为质朴，有很强的感染力。

施岳（约1247年前后在世），字仲山，号梅川，吴人。生卒年均不详，约宋理宗淳佑中前后在世。精于音律。卒，杨缵为树梅作亭，薛梦珪为作墓志，李彭老书，周密题，葬于西湖虎头岩下。可见他在当时是很受文人推重的。但他生平的事迹已经不可考。岳因通音律，故作词声元舛误；又因多读唐诗，故词语多雅淡。所作今仅见存于绝妙好词中的六首。
