译文
前几天蒙您陪同前往南山，去寻找一处栖身之地与您为邻。
我年纪渐老腰脚乏力，在阴崖下居住实属不便。
我想找的是一块重冈北护、终日得阳的地方，买所茅屋置点田地以终天年。
听说西枝村的西边有个山谷，那里长满了杉树和漆树。
正午时阳光颇为和暖，石田土质良好作物能够丰收。
所以我想等到雨停路干，牙疼的老病好了以后，再邀您同去西谷。
徘徊于虎穴之上，观览于龙潭之恻。
要是能在那里定居下来，我会在茅舍里备下清茶相待；也将踏着小路，拜访您的林丘。
让我们结成“二老”，相互来往，那也是很风流的呢！
注释
上人：佛教称具备德智善行的人，后作为对僧人的敬称。赞上人：即赞公和尚。
一昨：昨天，过去。一为发语词。锡杖：僧人所持之杖，亦称禅杖，此代指赞上人。
卜邻：选择邻居。《左传·昭公三年》：“惟邻是卜。”
年侵：为岁月所侵，指年老。
未便：不便。
竟日：终日，整天。
买：一作“置”。
杉：指树。黍：指庄稼。《全唐诗》校：“一作漆，即黍。”稠：多。
亭午：中午。
石：《全唐诗》校：“一作沙。”
塞：《全唐诗》校：“一作寒。”
宿昔：早晚，表示时间之短。齿疾：才病。廖：病愈。
裴回：今写作“徘徊”。虎穴：山名。
面势：对面。龙泓：水名。
柴荆：用柴荆做的简陋的门，指村舍。
径：《全唐诗》校：“一作遥。”
二老：指自己与赞上人。

这首诗是杜甫于公元759年（唐肃宗乾元二年）秋在秦州（治今甘肃天水市区）所作。

寄赞上人鉴赏
《寄赞上人》被选入《全唐诗》的第二一八卷第八首。这可以说是一篇诗体书信。
从内容着眼，这首诗可分三段。
第一段八句，通过对前一次卜邻的回顾，引出诗人置“草堂地”的条件。杜甫到秦州后所以再三想到西枝村，就是因为那里有赞公这位“上人“的缘故。第二句中不言“卜居”而说“卜邻”，正是这个意思。三至八句说明“心所求”的地方应该是什么样子，反衬出“一昨陪锡杖“所以没有成功的原因。其中“年侵”以致“腰脚哀“，由于“腰脚衰”，所以“未便阴崖秋”，脉络十分清楚。“未便“句从反面讲，“重冈”两句正面说，就是《西枝村寻置草堂地夜宿赞公土室二首》中所说的“要求阳冈暖”的意思。“茅屋”句写作者的另一条件；置草堂并购附近可耕种的土地。最后一句“斯焉”的“斯”统指上述各项，“心所求”总结全段。
第二段包括“近闻”以下四句，描写“西枝西”的那条山谷。这里关于山谷的传闻，正照应上段中对草堂地的要求。“有谷”承“重冈”，不过一从“冈’’说，一从“谷“说；“亭午“句承“竞日”句，其中一写正午，一写全天；“石田”句承“茅屋”句，不仅“兼土“，而且足收。那正是诗人理想的卜居之地。
第三段包括“当期”以下八句。写诗人的愿望和设想：“塞雨干”、“齿疾瘳”之后，卜居西枝西谷，与赞公为邻，互相来往交游，共同欣赏西枝秀色胜景，以此为乐事。“柴荆”、“茶茗”，淡泊闲适，正是风流之处。
这首诗的特点是层次清楚，内容丰富。从这首诗里，读者看到了一位失意老人对自己晚年生活的期望。杜甫觉得自己已经年迈，腰腿也不灵便，不宜居住在阴冷的地方，如果有一块阳光充足的山坡上能搭建自己的茅屋，周围还有土地可供耕种，就心满意足了。当他听说西枝村西边有个地方，不但林木繁茂，风和日暖，而且有着旱涝保收的田地，便渴望能去那里居住。他通过诗作表达自己的想法：如果这一愿望得以实现，到时和赞上人你来我往，一同徜徉在山原，信步于林径，观看西枝村秀色美景；赏花品茶论经赋诗，是件多么令人惬意，使人羡慕的风流之事。

杜甫（712－770），字子美，自号少陵野老，世称“杜工部”、“杜少陵”等，汉族，河南府巩县（今河南省巩义市）人，唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，杜甫被世人尊为“诗圣”，其诗被称为“诗史”。杜甫与李白合称“李杜”，为了跟另外两位诗人李商隐与杜牧即“小李杜”区别开来，杜甫与李白又合称“大李杜”。他忧国忧民，人格高尚，他的约1400余首诗被保留了下来，诗艺精湛，在中国古典诗歌中备受推崇，影响深远。759-766年间曾居成都，后世有杜甫草堂纪念。
