小芙蓉，香旖旎，碧玉堂深清似水。闭宝匣，掩金铺，
倚屏拖袖愁如醉。
迟迟好景烟花媚，曲渚鸳鸯眠锦翅。凝然愁望静相思，
一双笑靥嚬香蕊。
木兰花·小芙蓉鉴赏
这首词上片首三句明写荷花，实写美人，以“碧玉堂深”点出美人所居之地；以“水”兼写“小芙蓉”及美人所在玉堂的清姜环境。后三句连用“闭”、“掩”、“倚”、“拖”四个有独特含意的动词，把女主人公如痴如醉如怨的情状淋漓写出。
下片“迟迟”二句以乐景写愁情，以鸳鸯兴相思。结尾二句，是女主人公对上二句“凝望”后的瞬间表情，如梦如幻，以笑写愁，笑得愈沉醉，愁情也愈酸楚。

约公元九三O年前后在世字、里、生年不详死于925年五代时许州人，约后唐明宗长兴初前后在世，据当代学者考证，死于前蜀败亡之际。父魏宏夫，为蜀王建养子，赐姓名王宗弼，封齐王。承班为驸马都尉，官至太尉。国亡，与其父同时被杀。承班工词，艳丽似温庭筠，今存二十一首（见《唐五代词》）。 元遗山曰：魏承班词，俱为言情之作。大旨明净，不更苦心刻意以竞胜者。
