九字梅花咏鉴赏
本公这首《九字梅花咏》流传甚广，同代中即获盛誉。《风月堂杂志》载：大书画家赵子昂与本公为方外至交，对本公赞赏备至，翰林学士冯子振却不以为然。赵子昂强拖本公同访冯子振，冯出示自己所作《梅花百咏诗》，颇有炫耀之意。本公一览，走笔亦成百首。冯子振仍未认可。本公出此《九字梅花咏》求和，冯悚然久之，难以下笔。乃服输并致礼，遂成知交。这首诗用浓重的笔墨描绘寒梅忍受西风，含苞欲放的生动姿态。以诗喻人，提醒人们也要坚守自己的节操，保持自己的本性。

明本(1263—1323)，元朝僧人。俗姓孙，号中峰，法号智觉，西天目山住持，钱塘(今杭州)人。明本从小喜欢佛事，稍通文墨就诵经不止，常伴灯诵到深夜。24岁赴天目山，受道于禅宗寺，白天劳作，夜晚孜孜不倦诵经学道，遂成高僧。仁宗曾赐号“广慧禅师”，并赐谥“普应国师”。憩止处曰幻住山房。
