译文
红日高挂，移影入室，我从沉睡中醒来，披上罗衣，撩起帘幕，来到镜前，只见秀发零乱，脂粉暗淡，脸上还有一线红玉般的枕痕，我却无心梳妆。背依画栏，默默无语，凝望着昔日与他对奕的地方。
想到与他再见遥遥无期，我的无限心事齐涌心头，久久难去。屋内秦筝依旧，筝声犹在耳际，而他已远在天涯。抬眼远望，天边芳草连天，回眼屋内，被香薰过的被褥只剩我一人独宿。最痛苦的是，蝴蝶满园飞舞。却无人与我共同捕捉，触景伤情，不禁泪落。
注释
昼日：白天的太阳。移阴：日影移动，指时过已久。
春帷（wéi）：春天的帷帐，点明季节与处所。睡足：在床上躺够了，指女日子高懒起。
临宝鉴：面对金镜。
绿云撩乱：头发纷乱。绿云，形容女子发多而黑。
未忺（xiān）：没有兴趣。
蝶粉蜂黄：唐代宫妆，以粉敷面、胸，以黄涂额间。
红生玉：一作“红生肉”，肉、玉均指女子两腮；生，印出。
脉脉（mò）：含情不语貌。
寻棋局：杜牧《子夜歌》：“明灯照空局，悠然未有期（棋）。”意为因无聊而寻找棋盘，以棋谐“期”，期待情人相会。
心曲：内心深处。
秦筝（zhēng）：弹拨乐器，传为秦蒙恬所造。
金屋：华美的房屋。意为女子在居室弹筝，却无人欣赏。
迷：模糊，看不清。
宝香：贵重的香料。
无人扑：一作“无心扑”。句意为无人与其赏春戏蝶，而独自伤怀。

元祐八年（1093年）哲宗亲政，革新派既被斥殆尽，保守分子就呼朋引类，纷纷上场，却又明争暗斗。在这种背景下，周邦彦写了这首《满江红》。

上片写当时的情事，层次分明：“昼日移阴”三句，写天已大亮，窗外的日影仍在不停地移动，女主人公披衣起床，帐中春睡已经睡足。接下来写起身后的第一件事“临宝鉴”，对着珠宝镶嵌的明镜，只见满头如云的乌黑秀发散乱蓬松，但却毫无心思去梳洗打扮。“未忺妆束”的“忺”字作高兴、适意解。下面忽然插入了“蝶粉蜂黄都褪了，枕痕一线红生肉”两句，似乎有些打乱有条不紊的结构，但却另有作用。前一句借“蝶”、“蜂”、“褪”等在此处带有特定性象征意义的词汇，用曲笔写男女之间缠绵欢会已成为过去；后一句是写枕边在她身上留下的痕迹，深深不褪似红线一根生在肉里；这也许是实写，然而更重要的却是以此表示，伊人虽去但刻骨铭心的爱却已入心生根。此外，这两句似也点明离别时刻刚过去不久，接下去写女主人公从户内走到户外，“背画栏、脉脉悄无言，寻棋局。”写她背倚着廊前雕饰彩绘的栏干，含情不语，用目光去寻找往日二人对弈为乐的棋盘。“脉脉”点出了她的神态，“寻棋局”则是借游移的目光落在棋盘上，写出此时对弈者已去，空留下令人惆怅生情的棋盘，揭示出女主人公心中的空寂，出语含蓄。
下片写追忆往日相聚的欢乐，更衬托别后的孤单凄苦。阕首从不知再次相聚会在何时，不少欢乐的往事将人缠绕搅得人心碎开始，下面铺写了三件生活小事，一步深似一步地刻画女主人公的心理活动，把无形的相思抒写得淋漓尽致、触手可及。它们的顺序是先写“秦筝依旧”，再写“宝香熏被”，最后写“蝴蝶满园飞”。前两件事的写作技巧，一如上阕中“寻棋局”所示，使用的是今昔相衬比，使悲与欢的感情更加鲜明的手法。“想秦筝依旧，尚鸣金屋。芳草连天迷远望，宝香薰被成孤宿。”大意是：这昔日男女主人公时时抚弄拨弹的秦筝，如今依然在眼前，那熟悉的悠扬清亮的筝声也似乎还绕梁不绝，但是伊人已去；放眼望、芳草连天铺路不见远行人在何方，这幅用宝香熏过的锦被为什么失去往日的温暖，也只因伊人离去，如今的女主人是独眠孤宿。“芳草连天迷远望”之句夹在叙述事情之中，只是为了更加强远行人已去，一对情侣天各一方的气氛。最后一件小事的抒写精彩无比，以其处在醒目的结尾位置，便起到为全篇增辉的效果。为什么“蝴蝶满园飞，无心扑”？为什么这种愁情“最苦”？这本是只可意会不可言传的通常小事，词作者把它信手拈来，捕捉入词，便把女主人公被相思折磨得无情无味，连满园翩翩花间、上下翻飞的彩蝶，也引逗不起一点乐趣的情景，生动地描绘出来了。
该篇主要写男女之情，不仅铺叙物态，更能借物移情，使万物皆着我之色、皆抒我之情，曲尽其妙。

周邦彦（1056年－1121年），中国北宋末期著名的词人，字美成，号清真居士，汉族，钱塘（今浙江杭州）人。历官太学正、庐州教授、知溧水县等。徽宗时为徽猷阁待制，提举大晟府。精通音律，曾创作不少新词调。作品多写闺情、羁旅，也有咏物之作。格律谨严。语言典丽精雅。长调尤善铺叙。为后来格律派词人所宗。旧时词论称他为“词家之冠”。有《清真集》传世。
