译文
野花和香草，寂寞地生长在这关山路旁。柳树吐出金黄的丝条，黄莺儿那么早就在歌唱。我满怀惆怅，在香闺里暗自虚度时光。
我多么悔恨，解下罗带与你结成同心。如今独自靠着朱栏，思念多么深沉。睡梦中醒来，一弯斜月照着半个空床。小窗吹来的风，触动琴弦哀鸣作响。
注释
寂寞：清寂，寂静。
关山道：形容艰难坎坷的山路。
惆怅（chóu chàng）：失意，懊恼。
香闺（guī）：青年女子的内室。
暗老：时光流逝，不知不觉人已衰老。
结同心：用锦带打成连环回文样式的结子，用作男女相爱的象征，称“同心结”。
朱栏：朱红色的栏杆。
斜：读xié。
风触鸣琴：风触动琴而使之鸣。“鸣”，使动用法。

清平乐·野花芳草创作背景
晚唐时期随着国势衰微，失望与沮丧的阴影投射在文人的心中，有许多文人再次把目光投向闺情宫怨题材，通过表现女性对爱情和幸福的渴求来实现个人心灵的抚慰。此词正是在这样的社会背景下写成的。

清平乐·野花芳草鉴赏
这首词是伤春怀人之作，写思妇伤情。它代指思妇立言，而不同于常见的韦庄自我抒发情性之作。
“野花芳草，寂寞关山道。”这是思妇想象丈夫在远行的路上，虽有野花芳草，但毕竟寂寞荒凉，形单影只，不堪凄楚。接着写近处的风景：“柳吐金丝莺语早”，这是早春时节，柳枝柳叶还没有一片碧绿，而是黄中透绿，所以词人写“柳吐金丝”，让人眼前一亮，再加上报春的莺语，在视觉和听觉上同时给以强烈渲染。但这一切都是为了反衬思妇的悠悠愁思：“惆怅香闺暗老。”令人觉得黯然销魂。
“罗带悔结同心，独凭朱栏思深。”这里写的是思妇心理活动，文字的表面是思妇悔恨不该和丈夫用罗（锦）带打那个同心结，其实是爱之切，恨之切。所以思妇独自倚着闺阁的朱栏无限深情地思念着远行的丈夫。这深情的思念萦绕在思妇的头脑中，让思妇不能安然入眠，只要有一点轻微的动静，就把思妇从梦中惊醒。“小窗风触鸣琴”，连声响细微的轻风拂琴鸣都让思妇不能睡稳。思妇被惊醒后看到的是“半床斜月”，一片凄凉清冷，不禁让人触景生情，这也正应了李清照的那句“冷冷清清，凄凄惨惨戚戚……这次第，怎一个愁字了得”。
这首词的结构比较特殊，写了两层意思。第一层写思妇凭栏思深：上片直到下片头两句，是所思的具体内容。野花盛开，芳草萋萋，柳吐金丝，莺声不断，是写暮春之景，以时暮衬托出“香闺暗老”，而况关山道上，消息全无，使人惆怅，憔悴苍老，产生了“悔结同心”的轻怨。第二层是由思深而成梦，梦后而伤情。梦境略去了，梦后也只是用“斜月”、“风触鸣琴”这一富有寓意的图画表现的，有声有色，耐人咀嚼。
此词通篇不假雕饰，全用白描，于浅直中见深切，于此很可以看到韦庄词的基本特色。
