译文
湖光秋色，景色宜人，姑娘荡着小船来采莲。她听凭小船随波漂流，原来是为了看到岸上的美少年。
姑娘没来由地抓起一把莲子，向那少年抛掷过去。猛然觉得被人远远地看到了，她因此害羞了半天。
注释
滟滟：水面闪光的样子。
举棹：括号里的“举棹”“年少”，均为和声。
年少：指少年男子。信船流：任船随波逐流。
无端：无故，没来由。
采莲子·船动湖光滟滟秋鉴赏
这首清新隽永的《采莲子》，为读者描绘了一幅江南水乡的风物人情画，富有民歌风味。
“船动湖光滟滟秋。”水波映出秋色，一湖清澈透明的秋水可以想见。短短一句话，便勾勒出一幅极富诗情画意的秋景图，用船动时“湖光滟滟”来显现秋色，足见作者构思之巧妙。在如此美丽的景色中发生的感情故事，也必定是浪漫而动人的。以景衬情，收到了良好的表达效果。
“贪看年少信船流。”通过“信船流”，交代船动的原因。原来有一位英俊少年把采莲女吸引住了，她出神地凝视着意中人，以致船儿随水飘流而动。“贪看”二字，充分刻画了采莲女的情窦初开，大胆无羁。这种大胆无邪的目光和“信船流”的痴情憨态，把采莲女纯真热情的鲜明个性和对爱情的灼烈渴求，表现得神形毕肖。
“无端隔水抛莲子。”“莲”谐音“怜”，有表示爱恋之意。姑娘采用了传统的谐音包含的双关隐语，巧妙地表露自己的情思，饶有情趣，富有江南民歌的特色。这一抛莲子，实在是太大胆，不仅是人世间的礼法，连少女自己的矜持也不顾了。
“遥被人知半日羞。”从“遥”字可知看到的人离她很远，并未有什么表现，更没有笑她，或许根本没看到，只是采莲女的猜测而已，而她却以为心事被窥破而娇羞满面，可见采莲女虽然大胆却终究逃不过女儿家怕羞的心理。作者笔触到此戛然而止，留下无尽的悬念，让人玩味。当众少女和声再起时，可以想见，那是伴随着一片会心的欢笑的。
湖水滟滟起波，姑娘心里也荡起层层波澜。突然，姑娘抓起一把莲子，向那岸上的小伙子抛掷过去。这个充满戏谑、挑逗和爱慕的一掷，进一步活灵活现地表现出江南水乡姑娘大胆热情的性格。南朝以来，江南地区流行的情歌，常不直接说出“爱恋”、“相思”之类的字眼，而用同音词构成双关隐语来表示。
此词人物刻画生动形象，风格清新爽朗，音调和谐，和声作用精妙，既有文人诗歌含蓄委婉、细腻华美的特点，又有民歌里那种大胆直率的朴实风格，自然天成，别有情趣，颇见作者纯圆浑熟的艺术造诣。

皇甫松，字子奇，自号檀栾子，睦州新安（今浙江淳安）人。他是工部侍郎皇甫湜之子，宰相牛僧孺之外甥。《新唐书·艺文志》著录皇甫松《醉乡日月》3卷。其词今存20余首，见于《花间集》、《唐五代词》。事迹见《历代诗馀》。 今有王国维辑《檀栾子词》一卷。
