译文
当你在阶前与女伴斗草时我们初次相见，当你在楼上与女伴穿针时我们再次相逢。少女踏青斗草游戏。只见你在阶前和别的姑娘斗草，裙子上沾满露水，玉钗在头上迎风微颤，那活泼唯美的情态给我留下了深刻印象。另一次是七夕，少女夜须穿针乞巧拜新月。我和你在穿针楼上重逢，只见你靓妆照人，眉际沁出翠黛，羞得粉脸生出娇红，我们两个人已是生情意，却道得空灵。不料华年似水，伊人亦如行云，不知去向了。
注释
临江仙，原唐教坊曲名，后用为词牌。原曲多用于咏水仙，故名。
斗草，古代春夏间的一种游戏。梁·宗懔《荆楚岁时记》载：“五月五日……四民并踏百草。又有斗百草之戏。”但宋代在春社、清明之际已开始斗草。
穿针，指七月七日七巧节。《西京杂记》载：“汉宫女以七月七日登开襟楼，寄七子针”，以示向天上织女乞求织锦技巧，称之为“七巧节”。
“罗裙”句，七夕月夜，你身着罗裙，裙湿香露；头戴玉钗，鬓插香花，立于夜风之中。唐·温庭筠《菩萨蛮》云：“双鬓隔香红，玉钗头上风。”
“流水”句，从李煜“流水落花春去也，天上人间”句化来，此处指女子去远，无处寻觅。
行云，这里用“巫山云雨”的典故。这里指心爱的女子行踪不定。
飞雨，微雨。

临江仙·斗草阶前初见创作背景
宋代斗草之风，与唐代相比有过之而无不及。在时间上，宋代人斗草除在端午节外．在春社及清明也有斗草活动，此诗为证。据说这还成了妇女游戏的专利品，这首诗词里对“斗草”的描写就和女性有关。
临江仙·斗草阶前初见鉴赏
此词系作者为思念一个自己曾经深爱过的女子而作，全词写情婉转而含蓄。作者正面写了与女子的初见与重逢，而对于两人关系更为接近后的锦屏前相叙一节却未作正面表现，给读者留下了充分的想象空间。梦中相寻一节也写得很空朦，含蓄地暗示了多量的情感内涵，把心中的哀愁抒写得极为深沉婉曲。
上片叙写与女子初见及其后交往，通过描写穿戴、刻画神态表现女子之美。起首一句，写有一天女子同别的姑娘阶前斗草的时候，词人第一次看见了她。斗草，据《荆楚岁时记》：“五月五日，四民并踏百草。又有斗百草之戏”。而柳永《木兰花慢》清明词云“盈盈，斗草踏青”，则春日亦有此游戏。“穿针楼上曾逢”，转眼又到了七夕。七夕，女子楼上对着牛郎织女双星穿针，以为乞巧。这种风俗就从汉代一直流传下来。这天晚上，穿针楼上，他又同她相逢了。“罗裙香露玉钗风”以下三句，是补叙两次见面时她的情态。她的裙子沾满了花丛中的露水，玉钗头上迎风微颤。她“靓妆眉沁绿，羞脸粉生红”，靓妆才罢，新画的眉间沁出了翠黛，她突然看到了他，粉脸上不禁泛起了娇红。以上既有泛写，又有细腻的刻画，一位天真美丽的女子形象如目前。末句一“羞”字，已露情意。过片“流水”一联说随着时光的流逝，共同生活结束了，姑娘不知流落何方。“春”也是象征他们的欢聚，可惜不能长久。“行云终与谁同”，用巫山神女“旦为朝云，暮为行雨”（见《高唐赋》）的典故，说她像传说中的神女那样，不知又飘向何处，依附谁人了。“酒醒长恨锦屏空”，人是早已走了，再也不回来了。可是，那情感却一直留了下来。每当夜阑酒醒的时候，总觉得围屏是空荡荡的，他永远也找不回能够填满这空虚的那一段温暖了。正因为她象行云流水，不知去向，所以只好梦里相寻了。“相寻梦里路，飞雨落花中”，春雨飞花中，他独个儿跋山涉水，到处寻找那女子。尽管这是梦里，他仍然希望能够找到她。此处以梦境相寻表现了词人对自己深爱过的女子深沉的爱恋和思念。
晏几道是一位没落的贵公子。然而，他与绝大多数玩弄、侮辱女性、不把女性当人看的封建士大夫不同，许多作品中能以同情的、严肃的态度塑造底层女子的形象。此词便表现出词人不能自己的真情实感，有意无意地揭示出他心中有一种对美好事物执着追求的崇高情操。

晏几道（1030-1106，一说1038—1110 ，一说1038-1112），男，汉族，字叔原，号小山，著名词人，抚州临川文港沙河（今属江西省南昌市进贤县）人。晏殊第七子。历任颍昌府许田镇监、乾宁军通判、开封府判官等。性孤傲，晚年家境中落。词风哀感缠绵、清壮顿挫。一般讲到北宋词人时，称晏殊为大晏，称晏几道为小晏。《雪浪斋日记》云：“晏叔原工小词，不愧六朝宫掖体。”如《鹧鸪天》中的“舞低杨柳楼心月，歌尽桃花扇底风”等等词句，备受人们的赞赏。
