山头禅室挂僧衣，窗外无人水鸟飞。
黄昏半在下山路，却听钟声连翠微。
过融上人兰若鉴赏
这首诗写诗人上山寺访友不遇，却被山中优美的自然景色所吸引，因而尽兴欣赏。过，访问之意；融，是诗人所要寻访的和尚的名字；上人，对和尚的尊称；兰若，梵语“阿兰若”的简称，指和尚的住所。
首句，通过山头禅室里挂着僧衣的细节，既点明了友人的身份、居处，也巧妙地暗示友人不在禅室里，写得干净利落。
次句紧承首句，指出“窗外无人”，也是静悄悄的。只听见山溪流水潺潺，溪上有各种鸟儿飞来飞去。诗人以溪声、鸟飞的声响和动态，反衬出山寺环境的清静。
接下去，第三句“黄昏半在下山路”，省略了主语，句法简洁。七个字兼有叙事、抒情、写景。“黄昏”，暗示诗人尽管访友不遇却兴致未减，已在山顶佛寺四周流连了大半天。“下山路”，说明此刻诗人正慢慢沿着山路往回走。“半在”，表明山路上景色也很幽美，因此自己把半个黄昏都消磨过去了。
“却听钟声连翠微”，“却”字，不仅起到转折句意的作用，还能使人想象诗人蓦然闻钟、回首驻足的情状。“钟声连翠微”五个字，以景物形象、色彩和声音收束全篇。因为作者凝神聆听着悠扬的晚钟声在深山里荡漾、萦绕，所以他感到钟声同这浮荡山间的青翠岚气连成一片。“连”字把听觉形象“钟声”与视觉形象“翠微”彼此沟通起来，传达出诗人独特而又自然的感受。这一句描绘了暮色苍苍中翠色千重的山林美景；而荡漾山林经久不息的钟声，又给这幽深秀丽的山林增添了静谧的气氛。诗人流连忘返、迷恋山林的深情，就从这幅深山幽景中透露出来。
七绝诗篇幅短小，要求作者笔墨精炼。这首诗四句二十八个字，无一句、一字是多余的。摄取的景物虽不多，却显得丰富多彩。

綦毋潜（692-749），字孝通，虔州（今江西南康）人，唐代著名诗人。开元十四年（726年）进士及第，授宜寿（今陕西周至）尉，迁左拾遗，终官著作郎，安史之乱后归隐，游江淮一代，后不知所终。綦毋潜才名盛于当时，与许多著名诗人如：李颀、王维、张九龄、储光羲、孟浩然、卢象、高适、韦应物过从甚密，其诗清丽典雅，恬淡适然，后人认为他诗风接近王维。《全唐诗》收录其诗1卷，共26首，内容多为记述与士大夫寻幽访隐的情趣，代表作《春泛若耶溪》选入《唐诗三百首》。
