病起荆江亭即事创作背景
公元1101年（建中靖国元年）初，黄庭坚被召为吏部员外郎。因病新愈，辞谢不赴，在江陵等候新任命的时候，写下了十首《病起荆江亭即事》。这是其中的两首。
病起荆江亭即事鉴赏
第一首写羁留地的萧条冷落，近而感慨一生多桀，累受挫折。前半用典，说自己是个文坛老将，也像个庙里的病和尚。马援的“常恐不得死国事”，很合作者心事。后半首即景抒情。鸥鹭之典前面已经见过，诗人无法归隐之心明矣。第四句化用陈咏“隔岸水牛浮鼻渡”，诗人改“渡”为“过”，变得更准确、生动些。
第八首是悼念秦观，怀念陈师道的诗。一、三句写陈师道，二、四句写秦观。诗人抓住两位朋友创作时的不同表现的细节，描写出他们不同的风度，一个闭门觅句，其艰辛可知；一个对客挥毫，其潇洒可见。一静一动，一隐一豪，各有特色，而其才干超群自是想象中事。但可悲的是他们有才却不受器重，一个沉沦下僚，一个客死荒远。

黄庭坚（1045.8.9-1105.5.24），字鲁直，号山谷道人，晚号涪翁，洪州分宁（今江西省九江市修水县）人，北宋著名文学家、书法家，为盛极一时的江西诗派开山之祖，与杜甫、陈师道和陈与义素有“一祖三宗”（黄庭坚为其中一宗）之称。与张耒、晁补之、秦观都游学于苏轼门下，合称为“苏门四学士”。生前与苏轼齐名，世称“苏黄”。著有《山谷词》，且黄庭坚书法亦能独树一格，为“宋四家”之一。
