译文
勤勤恳恳不眠休，向来胸无大志，只是勉强做着这事业。功名利禄皆是过眼云烟，对于身处困顿的人来说没有任何帮助，哪里有值得留恋的地方，只觉时光飞逝。幸有那明理静心的佛学，让我能在精神上超越他人。
经历过怎样的事情，才能像现在这样再无如潮水般汹涌起伏的情绪，人的一生就像那渤海上的泡沫般短暂消散。世事变迁、沧海桑田，但事物的根本是不变的。只是那少许的心中梦想已幻灭。羡慕他人眼中荣华富贵，谁又相信这世间本来无物呢？一旦心中茫然无归处，易受功名利禄所引诱。所以纵使有千种计谋在心头，也难抵突如其来的变故。
注释
孜孜：勤勉；不懈怠。
矻矻：勤劳不懈貌。
明：目标，意志所趋。
强作：勉力而做，出自《孔丛子·执节》。
窠窟：动物栖身之所。喻指事业。
济：对困苦的人加以帮助。
堪：能，可以，足以。
仓猝：匆忙急迫。
弹指：捻弹手指作声。佛家多以喻时间短暂。
超出：超越别人。
底事：何事。
潮：像潮水那样汹涌起伏的。
浮沤：水面上的泡沫。因其易生易灭，常比喻变化无常的世事和短暂的生命。
瀛渤：渤海。
本源：根本。指事物的最重要方面。
自性：佛教语。指诸法各自具有的不变不灭之性。
些些：少许，一点儿。
妄想：佛教语。谓妄為分别而取种种之相。
机筹：计谋；计策。

王安石（1021年12月18日－1086年5月21日），字介甫，号半山，谥文，封荆国公。世人又称王荆公。汉族，北宋抚州临川人（今江西省抚州市临川区邓家巷人），中国北宋著名政治家、思想家、文学家、改革家，唐宋八大家之一。欧阳修称赞王安石：“翰林风月三千首，吏部文章二百年。老去自怜心尚在，后来谁与子争先。”传世文集有《王临川集》、《临川集拾遗》等。其诗文各体兼擅，词虽不多，但亦擅长，且有名作《桂枝香》等。而王荆公最得世人哄传之诗句莫过于《泊船瓜洲》中的“春风又绿江南岸，明月何时照我还。”
