译文
东园的风景非常美，今日一见果真如此，能消除我心中的愁闷。我虽然不是本乡本土的人，但是登上楼台一看，这是我游遍江南之地从未见到过的美景。正是因为东园美丽的风景才把我留在了这里。
日照短的秋天，鲜明的枫叶如织锦。清白的秋霜降下后，深暗色的菊花卷缩成一个球团了。回顾我的青春年华已交给东去的流水了。借助潘安的能耐，延缓我双鬓发白，不要让它像秋景那样衰败。
注释
南歌子：词牌名，唐教坊曲。又名《南柯子》、《凤蝶令》等。有单调、双调两体。双调又有平韵、仄韵两体。宋人多用平韵体，此词用平韵体。
见说：见了后才说，这里指亲身感受。东园：江苏仪真风景园林。原为州之监军废营。龙图阁直学士施正臣、侍御史许子春、监察御史马仲涂建造成为暇日游园。
北客：苏轼自谓。因仪真在宋都开封之南，故自称“北客”。
吾土：自己的故乡，故地。
行尽：游遍，游完。
此淹留：我在仪真东园才真羁留，逗留。
短日：冬至后，白昼一天天地短起来。
缬（xié）：染有彩纹的丝织品。
流年：光阴。
付东流：付给东流水一去不复返了。
凭仗：借助。挽回潘鬓：留住潘岳那样的鬓发。潘岳：潘郎：即潘安，又名潘岳。字安仁。荥阳中牟人。西晋著名文学家、政治家。
莫教秋：不要让它像秋景那样衰败。

宋神宗元丰七年（1084年）秋，苏轼陪伴王胜之到了仪真，同时拜访了真州太守袁陟，寄居于学宫，该词是三人同游东园时苏轼所作。

南歌子·见说东园好鉴赏
上片，咏东园的迷人风光。第一、二句，站在第三者的立场上写“东园好”。“见说”，点明非“听说”，是亲身感受。具体好在哪里，好在“能消”像苏轼这样政治“北客”之“愁”闷，这是铺垫之笔。第三、四、五句，写百闻不如一见，东园风光实属迷人。虽然苏轼不是本乡本土的人，但一“登楼”，纵观全景，气象万千，顿觉豁然开朗，令人神往。这是苏轼“行尽江南南岸”所未曾见到的美景，颇有范仲淹在岳阳楼上所观写山光水色的韵味，令人心旷神怡。正因田园如画的仪真，才把苏轼“淹留”、挽留住了。
下片，特写眼前事物，感叹人生短暂。第一、二句特写白昼“短日”的“枫”虽“明”而已“缬”，微寒“清霜”的“菊”既“暗”而又“球”。这典型的带有双关意义的深秋景物，是在给予苏轼什么。第三句，一语道破此时此地苏轼思想的真谛：“流年回首付东流！”似有人生短暂、不堪回首的愁闷。最后两句，借助古代文人的传统心理来自我安慰：凭借东园的美好景色，让苏轼内心增添了愉悦。凭借潘岳的能耐，延缓苏轼逐渐发白的双鬓。
全词借景抒情，借东园美好迷人的风光事物，敞开了苏轼旷达宽阔的胸怀，消解了多年积抑于心的愁闷。触发了苏轼复杂的思想情绪中的消极心态，也为苏轼内心增添了心事忡忡的忧愁。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
