译文
到蜀地的道路比上青天还难，何况是在夜间，又不断地下起了雨呢！值此时刻。唐玄宗想起了杨贵妃，眼泪就伴着铃声不断地流下来了。
那时军中死去的并非贵妃一人，死了那么多人，君王却丝毫也没有怜惜他们，更没有为他们而难受过。
注释
长恨辞：指白居易的长诗《长恨歌》。
蜀道：通往四川的道路。
淫：多。
沾襟：指唐玄宗十分悲痛，眼泪把衣襟都打湿了。
读长恨辞鉴赏
这是用绝句形式写的读后感兼咏史诗。这类诗最重的是要有创见，富有新意。
不少唐人以杨玉环之死写过诗，白居易的《长恨歌》最为著名，白乐天写这首诗时并不乐天，题目中的“恨”字足可说明一切。李商隐的《马嵬》也很有名，批判的矛头直指李隆基，“如何四纪为天子，不及卢家有莫愁”，讽刺挖苦的味道相当明显。郑畋《马嵬坡》中“景阳宫井又何人”，以陈后主和张丽华比李隆基和杨玉环，隐含讥刺。还有杜甫的“中自诛褒妲”，刘禹锡的“天子舍妖姬”等，含有女人是祸水的错误观念。李靓的这首绝句立意不但新，而且高，可以说超过了前人。
诗的前两句是对《长恨歌》中所述的事加以概括，抽取其中的一个片断：在“蜀道之难难于上青天”的艰难行程中，“霪雨霏霏，连月不开”，李隆基“夜雨闻铃断肠声”，写成《雨霖铃曲》以寄恨。这就为后面的议论定下了基调——在“渔阳鼙鼓动地来”时，唐军节节败退，安禄山“径截辎重，横攻士卒”，官军则“都尉新降，将军覆没。尸填巨港之岸，血满长城之窟。”这一切李隆基想过了吗？
后两句议论警策，有春秋笔法。诗人同情的不是“宛转娥眉马前死”，一妃之死，何足道哉，何必为之鸣不平呢？那“尸骸遍野”，“骨暴沙砾”的阵亡将士们，“精魂何依”？那个昏君李隆基却根本没有想到，即使想到，也是一点都不会动心，因为他唯一感到痛心并为之“倍沾襟”的是“三千宠爱在一身”的杨妃。连六军生死，国家兴亡都不过问，只念念不忘“回眸一笑百媚生”的亡妃，如此帝王，何许人也，还用诗人多说吗？全诗到此嘎然而止，“含有余不尽之意”在于言外。

李觏(1009—1059)，字泰伯，号盱江先生，是我国北宋时期一位重要的哲学家、思想家、教育家、改革家，他生当北宋中期“积贫积弱”之世，虽出身寒微，但能刻苦自励、奋发向学、勤于著述，以求康国济民。他俊辩能文，举茂才异等不中，讲学自给，来学者常数十百人。李觏博学通识，尤长于礼。他不拘泥于汉、唐诸儒的旧说，敢于抒发己见，推理经义，成为 “一时儒宗”。今存《直讲李先生文集》三十七卷，有《外集》三卷附后。为纪念李觏，资溪县建有泰伯公园，塑有李觏雕像，李觏纪念馆正在建设之中。
