嫩寒催客棹，载酒去、载诗归。正红叶漫山，清泉漱石，多少心期。三生溪桥话别，怅薜萝、犹惹翠云衣。不似今番醉梦，帝城几度斜晖。
回首处，只君知。念吴江鹭忆，孤山鹤怨，依旧东西。高峰梦醒云起，是瘦吟、窗底忆君时。何日还寻后约，为余先寄梅枝。
木兰花慢·别西湖两诗僧鉴赏
鸿飞。烟水氵弥氵弥。
词的上半阕写主客晤对的清欢。一起三句将诗酒清游的胜概写出，便有一种笼罩全篇的力量。“嫩寒催客棹”，不说自己起了游兴，而说是好天气催动了我的作客之舟。这种拟人化的写法，突出了风日之美，有一种人难以抗拒的吸引力。“嫩寒”，已被人格化，一个“嫩”字给瑟瑟的轻寒赋予一种令人爱赏的色彩，是通感技法的又一佳例。
“红叶”两句，复笔写景。山上是满林红叶，石间有潺潺清泉，绘声绘色，怎不令人心旷神怡？“漱石”一句，不只是写出了水漱石根的清幽景色，同时也表达了作者向往山林的归隐心曲。卢祖皋在此用典，就将一种脱落簪绂，息影山林的心愿诉诸其中了。“多少心期”，即多么快慰的意思。<
当读者正随着词人的妙笔徜徉于林泉清美的意境中时，作者却将我们带入了这样一个神奇的世界，即天竺寺后有三生石，与冷泉亭、合涧桥相距不远，是有名的景观。然而词中所述，不限于景物的铺陈，而是一种两面关合的用典。作者写带有佛家轮回色彩的传说，除了符合杭州实景而外，还切合对方的和尚身份，好像这眼前的景物与两位诗僧，都是前生所熟知的，都是具有宿缘的。卢祖皋在此强调了他对这种山林清致的向往和依恋。“依薜萝犹惹翠云衣”，个“惹”字尤能将无情草木化为有情。作者这样运笔，不但使文气跌宕，富有变化，而且还能唤起人们绵绵无尽的离情别绪来。歇拍两句，再将笔势收拢，点出今番之帝城醉梦，不如溪山之云水徜徉。“不似”意即“不如”。从这里我们可以想见作者那颗高尚的心灵在追求着一种清远，超脱，然而现实的黑暗龌龊，使他转向山林，转向自然，去寻求人性的复归。
下片设想离别后的思念，文笔活泼，妙喻联翩，意思是说：鸿鸟已飞向烟水茫茫的远方，只有你们才知道它留下的痕迹。这是以鸿鸟比喻自己漂泊无定的行踪。接下去，作者以错综之笔就自己与诗僧两面关锁写来，脉络清晰。“吴江鹭忆”，指作者的去处。“孤山鹤怨”，指二僧挂搭之地。林和靖梅妻鹤子隐于孤山，与二僧相近，故移以指二僧。这样写来便觉清超，也显示了词人高超的功力。
“高峰”句妙在奇思，高峰云起，并不稀奇，一经“梦醒”二字点染，便成了奇笔。把朝云出岫比作高峰睡醒，词人以拟人化的手法，将自己的感情赋予山河。“瘦吟”句是写对诗僧的忆念，暗用李白《戏赠杜甫》“借问别来太瘦生，总为从前作诗苦”。“瘦”字又形象地表达了相思的苦怀。歇拍二句，自相问答，饶有趣味。什么时候再相聚会呢？那就请你寄来报春的梅花吧。这样的结尾，更显得雅致，有韵味。

卢祖皋(约1174—1224)，字申之，一字次夔，号蒲江，永嘉（今属浙江）人。南宋庆元五年(1199)中进士，初任淮南西路池州教授。今诗集不传，遗著有《蒲江词稿》一卷，刊入“彊村丛书”，凡96阕。诗作大多遗失，唯《宋诗记事》、《东瓯诗集》尚存近体诗8首。
