译文
嘉陵江的河水自此从东流去，自己站在望喜楼中回忆阆州。
如果江水到了阆州还要入海，那么自己更应该站在高楼上回忆。
嘉陵江的景色，含烟带月，千里风光，河水比靛青都要蓝。
现在在江水向东流去之际与你送别，只能独自驱赶着马车向南离去。
注释
望喜驿：旧址在今四川广元县南。商隐由秦入蜀，自大散关以南，一直沿嘉陵江水行进，至望喜驿，续往西南行，而嘉陵江水则往东南流，故曰“别”。
忆：思。阆（làng）州：今四川阆中县。
应更有高楼：指自己当更登高楼望之。
蓝：靛青，一种染料。

望喜驿别嘉陵江水二绝创作背景
这两首山水诗作于大中五年（851），诗人应东川（治梓州，今四川三台）幕柳仲郢之邀被辟为掌书记，途经望喜驿，有所感触而写下这组诗。

望喜驿别嘉陵江水二绝鉴赏
“嘉陵江水此东流，望喜楼中亿阆州。”起笔扣题，突出“别”字。诗人站在望喜楼上，注目嘉陵江水滔滔东流，不禁油然升起依依不舍的心情。诗人极目望去，又亿起那远在中游的阆州，思绪为之一顿。
“若到阆州还赴海，阆州应更有高楼。”嘉陵江经阆州后继续向东南流去，到重庆汇入长江，最终流入东海，故曰“赴海”。“应更”是肯定句，前行匆匆，无暇游赏，而此行又不经此，当然不可能再到阆州的“高楼”眺望嘉陵江水了。“阆州”也是写实，而不是未曾涉足的想象，从而更增强了“别”的韵味。
第一首重在远眺嘉陵江，从宏观着笔，第二首重在写嘉陵江水之澄碧，于细微处见精神。
诗人把视线收回，注目脚下的江水；江天一色，千里嘉陵，烟波浩渺，它象皓月那样洁白，又比纯蓝还碧。诗人尽情描摹江水之美，以增加不忍“别”之情。
这里把江水人格化了，也就是把自然人格化。江水变成了有生命力的东西了，这样也遂使诗的意境得到了升华。“犹”，有不忍之意，“更向南”意谓前途渺茫。诗人尽管受柳仲郢之邀，但此行如何，还未可预料，故尔发出“犹自驱车更向南”，以收束全篇。
这两首绝句通过赞美嘉陵江水，抒发了自己对大自然的依恋，从而也反衬了人世间的倾轧、污浊。诗曾有自注：“此情别寄。”当指另有所寄，这或许就是人情冷暖，世风日下，李商隐虽有才华和政治抱负，但时时受到猜忌、排挤。王氏卒后，他更觉无所依托，人生飘泊，内心矛盾也偶尔流露。他渴望得到知音，但现实社会知音难觅，只好钟情于嘉陵江水，聊以片刻的自慰。
这两首绝句是联章体，紧紧围绕嘉陵江来抒发情感。前者重虚写，以想象嘉陵江壮阔景象，但虚中含实；后者重写实，以细腻的笔触，抒发自己的无尽山水之情，但实中寓虚。这组诗以江水为核心，从不同侧面加以描摹。从其过程上看，写其上游、中游、下游，淡淡勾渤几笔，写出江水的博大；从其特色上看，写其“江水色”、“含烟”、“带月”、“碧于蓝芝，极富画意；从其人格化上看，有“相送”，人送江，江送人，生动活泼。

李商隐，字义山，号玉溪（谿）生、樊南生，唐代著名诗人，祖籍河内（今河南省焦作市）沁阳，出生于郑州荥阳。他擅长诗歌写作，骈文文学价值也很高，是晚唐最出色的诗人之一，和杜牧合称“小李杜”，与温庭筠合称为“温李”，因诗文与同时期的段成式、温庭筠风格相近，且三人都在家族里排行第十六，故并称为“三十六体”。其诗构思新奇，风格秾丽，尤其是一些爱情诗和无题诗写得缠绵悱恻，优美动人，广为传诵。但部分诗歌过于隐晦迷离，难于索解，至有“诗家总爱西昆好，独恨无人作郑笺”之说。因处于牛李党争的夹缝之中，一生很不得志。死后葬于家乡沁阳（今河南焦作市沁阳与博爱县交界之处）。作品收录为《李义山诗集》。
