任昉（460年-508年），字彦升，小字阿堆，乐安郡博昌（今山东省寿光市）人。南朝文学家、方志学家、藏书家，“竟陵八友”之一。十六岁时，被刘宋丹阳尹刘秉聘为主簿，后被朝廷征召，任太常博士、征北行参军。永元末年，任司徒右长史。梁高祖萧衍即帝位后，任命任昉为黄门侍郎，接着又升任吏部郎中。天监二年（503年），出任义兴太守。此后先后出任吏部郎中、御史中丞、秘书监、领前军将军。天监六年（507年）春，出任宁朔将军、新安太守。天监七年（408年），任昉在任上去世，终年四十九岁。追赠太常卿，谥号“敬子”。
