逸气轩眉宇。似王良轻车熟路，骅骝欲舞。我觉君非池中物，咫尺蛟龙云雨。时与命犹须天付。兰佩芳菲无人问，叹灵均欲向重华诉。空壹郁，共谁语？
译文：徐斯远眉宇间的气度风采超逸轩昂。我想您赴试就应该像王良驾驭马车一样轻车熟路，怎能不一试而中。我认为友人本来就不是池中之物，应该像蛟龙得云雨一样能够大展宏图。但是时机和命运的好坏还需要看天意如何。想那屈原的才华与人品就如同兰芷一样，却同样感慨时运不济，何况是我们这样的人呢。
注释：王良：一名孙无政，晋之善御马者，为赵简子御。骅骝：良马名，相传为周穆王八骏之一。池中物：喻蛰居一隅、无远大抱负之人。灵均：即屈原。重华：舜的别号。壹郁：忧闷。
儿曹不料扬雄赋。怪当年《甘泉》误说，青葱玉树。风引船回沧溟阔，目断三山伊阻。但笑指吾庐何许。门外苍官千百辈，尽堂堂八尺须髯古。谁载酒，带湖去。
译文：主考官就像是当年左思误评扬雄之《甘泉赋》一样，不识徐斯远文章之妙，以致使其落第。友人徐斯远落第，其报国理想难以实现，就像是乘船去寻找传说中的仙山，因其虚无缥缈，所以总是难以到达。我只是笑着指着我的茅庐问道：看看如何？谓住所外长有千百株挺拔苍健的松柏，他们也都隐居山林，尚未得志。劝解友人暂时载酒带湖、乐而忘忧。
注释：三山：指传说中的蓬莱、方丈、瀛洲。苍官：松柏的别称。须髯：络腮胡子。

辛弃疾（1140－1207），南宋词人。原字坦夫，改字幼安，别号稼轩，汉族，历城（今山东济南）人。出生时，中原已为金兵所占。21岁参加抗金义军，不久归南宋。历任湖北、江西、湖南、福建、浙东安抚使等职。一生力主抗金。曾上《美芹十论》与《九议》，条陈战守之策。其词抒写力图恢复国家统一的爱国热情，倾诉壮志难酬的悲愤，对当时执政者的屈辱求和颇多谴责；也有不少吟咏祖国河山的作品。题材广阔又善化用前人典故入词，风格沉雄豪迈又不乏细腻柔媚之处。由于辛弃疾的抗金主张与当政的主和派政见不合，后被弹劾落职，退隐江西带湖。
