瘦影亭亭不自容，淡香杳杳欲谁通？
译文：盛开在夏季的莲花到了秋天经受不住风霜的侵袭而渐渐凋萎了。
注释：秋莲：宋代理学创始人周敦颐有一篇著名的散文《爱莲说》，借出淤泥而不染的莲花寄托高洁的志趣。亭亭：耸立的样子。不自容：形容荷茎细弱不能自持。杳杳：深远的样子。此处形容香气飘得很远。欲谁通：想同谁人同消息呢？
不堪翠减红销际，更在江清月冷中。
译文：淡淡的清香也不再引起路人欣赏的兴趣了。在江清月冷中，更不能让人忍受的是秋莲的花叶已经败落了。
注释：不堪：不能忍受。翠减红销：指秋天红花凋残，绿叶飘零。
拟欲青房全晚节，岂知白露已秋风。
译文：本来还以为莲蓬成长起来可以保持秋莲的晚节，哪里知道白露之时秋风已经刮起。
注释：拟：打算。青房：指莲蓬。白露：节气名，这里亦可解释为露水。
盛衰老眼依然在，莫放扁舟酒易空。
译文：大自然的变化和人世的变化一样，盛衰都在我的老眼中历历分明，还是不要让小船上的酒杯空着，珍惜眼前的好时光吧。
注释：盛衰：有双关之意，既可指莲花的盛衰，也可以指世代的盛衰、朝代的更迭。老：这里借指阅历多有经验。莫放：不要让，不要使得。扁舟：小舟。

刘因（1249～1293） 元代著名理学家、诗人。字梦吉，号静修。初名骃，字梦骥。雄州容城（今河北容城县）人。3 岁识字，6岁能诗，10岁能文，落笔惊人。年刚20，才华出众，性不苟合。家贫教授生徒，皆有成就。因爱诸葛亮“静以修身”之语，题所居为“静修”。元世祖至元十九年(1282)应召入朝，为承德郎、右赞善大夫。不久借口母病辞官归。母死后居丧在家。至元二十八年，忽必烈再度遣使召刘因为官，他以疾辞。死后追赠翰林学士、资政大夫、上护军、追封“容城郡公”，谥“文靖”。明朝，县官乡绅为刘因建祠堂。
