把酒对斜日，无语问西风。胭脂何事，都做颜色染芙蓉。放眼暮江千顷，中有离愁万斛，无处落征鸿。天在阑干角，人倚醉醒中。
译文：我拿着酒杯面对斜阳，默默无语似乎在问西风。为什么胭脂把荷花染得这么红。放眼望去这千顷大江，里面有万斛的离别哀愁，没有地方让远飞的鸿鸟歇足。唯有阑干的一角可见一线天光，人依靠在一旁半醉半醒中。
注释：水调歌头：词牌名，又名“元会曲”、“凯歌”、“台城游”、“水调歌”、“花犯念奴”、“花犯”。以毛滂《元会曲·九金增宋重》为正体，双调九十五字，前段九句四平韵，后段十句四平韵。芙蓉：是荷花，这里指秋荷。斛：古代容量单位，十斗为一斛，后改为五斗一斛。“万斛”，比喻愁多。“天在”二句：意谓自已在似醉似醒中倚栏眺望，栏杆一角露出一线天光。
千万里，江南北，浙西东。吾生如寄，尚想三径菊花丛。谁是中州豪杰，借我五湖舟楫，去作钓鱼翁。故国且回首，此意莫匆匆。
译文：萍踪浪迹于大江南北，走遍了浙西浙东。人生太短促，我还想闲步在三径篱边的菊丛。试问谁是中原豪杰，借我舟楫浮泛五湖，当一个钓鱼翁。回望这沦陷的故国，这田园归意莫要太匆匆。
注释：如寄：喻生命短促。三径菊花：称隐士居所。中州：黄河中、下游地区。五湖：太湖一带。此表示隐遁湖海。故国：指中原。

杨炎正（1145—？）字济翁，庐陵（今江西吉安）人，杨万里之族弟。庆元二年（1196）年五十二始登第，受知于京镗，为宁县簿。六年，除架阁指挥，寻罢官。嘉定三年（1210）于大理司直任上以臣僚论劾，诏与在外差遣，知藤州。嘉定七年又被论罢，改知琼州，官至安抚使。杨炎正与辛弃疾交谊甚厚，多有酬唱。
