先秦：韩非
曾子之妻之市，其子随之而泣。其母曰：“汝还，顾反为女杀彘。”妻适市来，曾子欲捕彘杀之。妻止之曰：“特与婴儿戏耳。”曾子曰：“婴儿非与戏也。婴儿非有知也，待父母而学者也，听父母之教。今子欺之，是教子欺也。母欺子，子而不信其母，非所以成教也。”遂烹彘也。
译文： 曾子的妻子到集市上去，她的儿子跟随着她在她后面边走边哭。曾子的妻子对儿子说：“你先回去，等我回来后杀猪给你吃。”妻子从集市上回来，曾子就想抓只猪准备杀了它。他的妻子马上阻止他说：“我只不过是跟儿子开了个玩笑罢了。”曾子说：“不可以与儿子开玩笑。儿子什么都不懂，他只学习父母的，听从父母的教导。现在你欺骗了他，这就是在教育他欺骗人。母亲欺骗儿子，儿子就不会再相信他的母亲了，这不是正确教育孩子的方法啊。”于是曾子就煮猪给孩子吃了。
注释： 曾子（前505～前432）：曾参，春秋末年鲁国人，孔子的弟子，字子舆，被尊称为曾子。性情沉静，举止稳重，为人谨慎，待人谦恭，以孝著称。曾提出“慎终追远，民德归厚”的主张和“吾日三省吾身”的修养方法。据传以修身为主要内容的《大学》是他的作品。彘：猪。适：往、回去。适市回：去集市上回来。戏：开玩笑。非与戏：不可同……开玩笑。待：依赖。子：这里是第二人称尊称“您”的意思。`而：则，就。非所以成教也：这样做就不能把孩子教育好。之：到。烹：烹饪，煮。是：这。反：同“返”，返回顾反：等到回来。特：只、仅、独、不过。女：同“汝”，你的意思。杀：宰。曾子之妻之市:曾子的妻子到集市去.之,前一个作助词"的",后一个作动词"去"，市集市。欲：想要。止：阻止。遂：于是，就。

韩非子生于周赧王三十五年（约公元前281年），卒于秦王政十四年（公元前233年），韩非为韩国公子（即国君之子），汉族，战国末期韩国人(今河南省新郑）。师从荀子，是中国古代著名的哲学家、思想家，政论家和散文家，法家思想的集大成者，后世称“韩子”或“韩非子”，中国古代著名法家思想的代表人物。
