We held their hands;---

由于他拥护以儒家的立场解释这首诗，所以这首诗经他这么一翻就成了一种"官方"宣传。
再译回中文就成了：

这个翻译和上面的差不多，最关键的区别在于这个翻译将这首诗变成了一个个人化的爱情宣言，也就是说说话者"我"成为了一个具体的求爱者。翻译回来：
