译文
华美的大厅里正举行高雅的宴集，乍弹朱弦刚刚进入弹奏第一章。轻轻地拢，慢慢地捻，纤长的细指犹如嫩葱。
拨头抑郁低落，带着愁怨的花月自有无限意。舞女身姿轻灵美好，倚着檀槽弹不成一首曲子。
注释
减字木兰花：原唐教坊曲，双调四十四字，与“木兰花”相比，前后片第一、三句各减三字，改为平仄韵互换格，每片两仄韵，两平韵。
画堂雅宴：在彩绘厅堂举行歌舞宴集。
朱弦：华美琵琶之弦。抹：琵琶弹奏手法，一抹即乍弹。入遍：初始弹奏第一章。遍，曲调中的一解，即一章。
捻：搓。拢：抚。均为弹奏琵琶的手法。
“玉指”句：谓琵琶女的手指细嫩如葱白。
拨头：舞蹈名。憁利，失意的样子。
红粉轻盈：指舞女轻灵美好。红粉，妇女化妆用的胭脂与白粉。代指美女:
香檀：即檀槽，弦乐器架弦之架。

减字木兰花·画堂雅宴创作背景
这首词约作于宋仁宗天圣（1023－1032年）末年，是作者年轻时期的作品。作者时任西京留守推官，这首词写的是一次宴会上女子演奏琵琶的场景。

减字木兰花·画堂雅宴鉴赏
这首词描绘了一位在歌舞筵席上侑洒佐欢的歌女形象。她琴艺高超，琴曲哀怨动人。作品字里行间隐藏着作者对歌女的同情。
上片点明宴会在宽敞的画阁里进行，其后进入正题，写到女子弹奏琵琶的技巧。大概作者明知描写琵琶演奏不可能超越白居易的《琵琶行》，所以干脆把《琵琶行》里“轻拢慢捻抹复挑”的成句搬移到词中，反倒显得朴素真切。欣赏琵琶的人，不可能不同时欣赏弹奏者高超的技巧，于是作者的目光自然而然地落在了女子的手上，干脆又把自居易的“十指剥春葱”挪移过来，于是翻新成了另一个完美的琵琶女。这种移花接木的效果，往往比自出机杼更有神趣。
下片刻意点明女子弹奏的曲子是《拨头》，其中妙处，今人可能无法知晓，因为这支曲子已经失传了。然而作者之所以要明言曲名，定有他的深意，这种深意随后的描写中显露无遗，先是出现了“怨月愁花无限意”的幽怨哀愁，而且是面对皎月和鲜花产生的愁怨，表明女子的弹奏一定触动犷她内心的隐痛，她是把自己想象成了皎月和鲜花，其晶莹娇美本该得到尊重和欣赏，如今却沦落到为人佐酒的卑贱地步，其中的“无限意”怕是无人理解。作者似乎隐隐感到了女子情绪的变化，所以对这位“红粉轻盈”的美女为什么突然停止弹奏产生了极大的疑问，这种疑问他没有道破，留给读者去细细体会，这个出人意料的结局，才是这首词成功的设计。

欧阳修（1007－1072），字永叔，号醉翁，晚号“六一居士”。汉族，吉州永丰（今江西省永丰县）人，因吉州原属庐陵郡，以“庐陵欧阳修”自居。谥号文忠，世称欧阳文忠公。北宋政治家、文学家、史学家，与韩愈、柳宗元、王安石、苏洵、苏轼、苏辙、曾巩合称“唐宋八大家”。后人又将其与韩愈、柳宗元和苏轼合称“千古文章四大家”。
