译文
黄河的水啊向东流，洛阳有个美丽的女孩叫莫愁。
当初莫愁十三岁，就能织出精美的丝绸。
十四岁不辞劳苦去采桑，提笼攀枝到那田间地头。
十五岁的莫愁嫁到了卢家，十六岁就生了儿子叫阿侯。
卢家的房屋富丽堂皇，闺房兰馨雅洁桂木为梁，四处散发郁金苏合香的芬芳。
莫愁头上光彩熠熠，金钗排成十二行。脚下轻踏丝绣鞋，五彩斑斓描出花纹状。
珊瑚枝镶嵌的支架上，化妆镜璀璨生光。带着平头巾的奴仆，为她提着履箱往来奔忙。
人生富贵荣华哪值得留恋？直叫人悔恨：没有早嫁给东邻王郎。
注释
河：指黄河。洛阳距黄河很近，故以此起兴，引出下句。
绮（qǐ）：有花纹的丝织品。南陌头：南边小路旁。
卢郎妇：一作“卢家妇”。字阿侯：原作“似阿侯”，据《玉台新咏》、《艺文类聚》改。
兰室：古代女子居室的美称。犹“兰闺”、“香闺”。
桂作梁：形容居室华贵芳香。桂：桂树，极芳香。梁：屋梁。
郁金、苏合：两种名贵的香料。郁金：出古大秦国（古罗马帝国）；苏合：出古大食国（古波斯帝国）。
丝履（lǚ）：绣花丝鞋，是古时富有的标志。
五文章：五色花纹。一说，五，古作“夏”，有纵横交互之章。亦通“午”，一纵一横交错。
挂镜：古代镜子常挂于壁上，故称“挂镜”。
平头奴子：不戴冠巾的奴仆。 擎（qíng）：一作“提”。
履箱：不详何物，一说为藏履之箱，亦可指鞋子和箱子。
望：怨，怨恨。东家王：指东邻姓王的意中人。按：唐上官仪、元稹、李商隐、韩俚诸人诗文都指实“东家王”为王昌。

河中之水歌创作背景
《河中之水歌》中梁武帝萧衍综合了《孔雀东南飞》以及《相逢行》，《长安有狭斜行》等乐府诗极力铺叙豪贵之状的手法，围绕“莫愁”二字，着力渲染了一位“人生富贵何所望”的洛阳佳丽。

河中之水歌鉴赏
《河中之水歌》是首叙事古诗，塑造了莫愁美丽率真的形象。关于莫愁有两种说法。一指石城莫愁，《旧唐书·音乐志二》：”《莫愁乐》出于《石城乐》。石城有女子名莫愁，善歌谣……故歌云：“莫愁在何处？莫愁石城西。艇子打两桨，催送莫愁来。”石城在今湖北；另一种说法指洛阳莫愁，为卢家妇。此乐府诗所咏为洛阳莫愁。诗歌开头用比兴手法，第三句到十二句描写莫愁的生活经历,写法与乐府古辞（《孔雀东南飞》）开头描写刘兰芝的形象相似：“十三能织素，十四学裁衣。十五弹箜篌，十六诵诗书。十七为君妇，心中常苦悲。”莫愁比之刘氏更具民间女子的气质。“采桑南陌头”化用古辞《陌上桑》中罗敷形象的内蕴，含蓄写出莫愁的俏丽和勤劳。最后两句写莫愁不贪恋富贵的超俗性格。全诗格调明快，文辞富艳，含蓄有致。且压韵规律，对偶基本工整，明显带有文饰的痕迹。
全诗十四句中，连用十二句铺叙其生活环境之无比优裕，简直让人艳羡不已，感叹人生富贵，至此无以复加。然而就在读者可能产生错觉误解之时，诗笔突然急转，一句“恨不嫁与东家王”点明题旨。诗的民歌风味极浓。首句以河水东流起兴引出洛阳女儿，饶有趣味。述莫愁经历，排比铺叙，同《焦仲卿妻》兰芝“十三能织素”一段颇有渊源。语言通俗明快、流走自然，更见民歌特色。

梁高祖武皇帝萧衍（464年－549年），字叔达，小字练儿。南兰陵郡武进县东城里（今江苏省丹阳市访仙镇）人。南北朝时期梁朝政权的建立者。萧衍是兰陵萧氏的世家子弟，为汉朝相国萧何的二十五世孙。父亲萧顺之是齐高帝的族弟，封临湘县侯，官至丹阳尹知事，母张尚柔。他原来是南齐的官员，南齐中兴二年（502年），齐和帝被迫“禅位”于萧衍，南梁建立。萧衍在位时间达四十八年，在南朝的皇帝中列第一位。在位颇有政绩，在位晚年爆发“侯景之乱”，都城陷落，被侯景囚禁，死于台城，享年八十六岁，葬于修陵，谥为武帝，庙号高祖。
