马祖接得大雄峰，一喝当机三日聋。近来丛林无此作，多是活埋文字中。
君不见鬻薪客，特石坠腰供七百。一字不能人为书，继续衣盂是伊得。
又不见周金刚，满车载疏游南方。纸灯忽灭眼睛出，白棒一挥吾道昌。
玄中人，甚眼目，指金成鍮石作玉。圣凡命在渠手中，凛凛威风谁敢触。
直得如斯未称渠，尔曹何苦犹贪书。是间纵得不为贵，天外出头方丈夫。

释慧空（一○九六～一一五八），号东山，俗姓陈，福州（今属福建）人。年十四出家，初学于圆悟、六祖，后至疏山，为南岳下十四世，泐潭清禅师法嗣。高宗绍兴二十三年（一一五三），住福州雪峰禅院，次年退归东庵。二十八年卒，年六十三（《五灯会元》卷一八、《东山慧空禅师语录跋》）。有《东山慧空禅师语录》、《雪峰空和尚外集》传世。 释慧空诗，以续藏经本《东山慧空禅师语录跋》及日本旧刻《雪峰空和尚外集》（今藏北京图书馆）为底本，编为二卷。
