中元北极紫微宫，北极五星在其中。大帝之坐第二珠，第三之星庶子居。
第一号曰为太子，四为后宫五天枢。左右四星是四辅，天一太一当门路。
左枢右枢夹南门，两面营卫一十五。上宰少尉两相对，少宰上辅次少辅。
上卫少卫次上丞，后门东边大赞府。门西唤作一少丞，以次却向前门数。
阴德门里两黄聚，尚书以次其位五。女史柱史各一户，御女四星五天柱。
大理两星阴德边，勾陈尾指北极颠，勾陈六星六甲前。
天皇独在勾陈里，五帝内坐后门是。华盖并杠十六星，杠作柄象盖伞形。
盖上连连九个星，名曰传舍如连丁。垣外左右各六珠，右是内阶左天厨。
阶前八星名八谷，厨下五个天棓宿。天床六星左枢在，内厨相星右枢对。
文昌斗上半月形，希疏分明六个星。文昌之下曰三公，太尊只向三公明。
天牢六星太尊边，太阳之守四势前。一个宰相太阳侧，更有三公相西偏，即是玄戈一星圆。
天理四星斗里暗，辅星近著开阳淡。更有三公相西偏，即是太阳一星圆。
天理四星斗里暗，辅星近著闿阳淡。北斗之宿七星明，第一主帝名枢精，第二第三璇玑星，第四名权第五衡，闿阳摇光六七名。

唐时人，号丹元子，又号青罗山布衣。玄宗开元年间以方技为内供奉，待诏翰林。尝奉命编《太乙金镜式经》。又撰《丹元子步天歌》一卷。该书七言，有韵，系我国古代以诗歌形式介绍全天星官之天文学重要著作。首创将整个天空划分为三垣二十八宿，共三十一个天区。每区包含若干星官、数量、位置。
