上人久住湖外游，辛亥春陷孔彦舟。
长沙城中就驱掠，七十七日遭拘留。
眼看杀人等蝼蚁，剑血洗尽湘川流。
张帆方离道林岸，鼓枻已过巴陵楼。
兵缠妖气草木暗，火炽凶焰云烟愁。
衣冠子女半同载，俛首悲泣犹惊羞。
蒙冲颇谙大风浪，舴艋或挂长戈矛。
两舷矢集闹如雨，势欲欹侧争先投。
相牵浮湛状菱荇，乍坠出没真凫鸥。
众生流浪几生死，爱河共海何时休。
曹成马友互屠灭，偶尔不杀老比丘。
枯颅茁发虮虱满，得脱性命非人谋。
孰知贼党亦方便，日供斋钵仍茶瓯。
南归数年闭户卧，故山精舍松飕飕。
灰心一切本梦幻，返照逆照无人牛。
细听此语重叹息，群盗扫迹夫何忧。
吾闽日前岂不乐，禾稻未穫先麦秋。

元干出身书香门第。其父名动，进士出身，官至龙图阁直学士，能诗。张元干受其家风影响，从小聪明好学，永泰的寒光阁、水月亭是他幼年生活和读书处。十四五岁随父亲至河北官廨（在临漳县）已能写诗，常与父亲及父亲的客人唱和，人称之“敏悟”。
