寒鸡号荒林，山壁月倒挂。
译文：清凉的早晨，山鸡在荒林中啼叫。山峰壁立，落月象倒挂在山腰。
注释：水谷：水谷口，在今河北完县西北。子美：苏舜钦字，开封人。圣俞：梅尧臣字，宣州宣城人。月倒挂：山高，月落时反倒比山还低。
披衣起视夜，揽辔念行迈。
译文：披起农裳，凝视将退的夜色，揽起马缰，便觉得路途艰遥。
注释：揽辔：揽住马笼头，指乘马。迈：远。
我来夏云初，素节今已届。
译文：当我来时，正值夏初，如今归去，已到秋季。
注释：云：语气助词，无实义。素节：秋天。古代五行说，以金配秋，其色白，故称素。届：到。
高河泻长空，势落九州外。
译文：银河在长空奔泻，好象要飞出中国大地。
注释：高河：指银河，因在高空，故称。
微风动凉襟，晓气清余睡。
译文：凉风轻轻吹拂衣襟，清晨的寒气消除了睡意。
缅怀京师友，文酒邈高会。
译文：遥念昔日京都的师友，高朋满座，诗酒相邀。
注释：文酒：饮酒赋诗。邈：遥远。高会：盛会。
其间苏与梅，二子可畏爱。
译文：其中有苏、梅二人，是我最畏敬爱慕的同道。
注释：可畏爱：令人敬畏、亲近。
篇章富纵横，声价相磨盖。
译文：诗文富有纵横的气势，文才互相掩映，名气一般高。
注释：磨盖：相磨相盖，即不相上下之意。
子美气尤雄，万窍号一噫。
译文：子美的文气更加雄豪，仿佛是大地嘘气，万窍怒号。
注释：有时肆(sì)颠(diān)狂，醉墨洒滂(滂)沛。
有时肆颠狂，醉墨洒滂沛。
译文：有时听凭酒后的狂放，振臂挥洒，波澜壮阔，笔势奇妙。
注释：杀：停顿。
譬如千里马，已发不可杀。
译文：好象奔驰的千里马。放开四蹄，止不住奔跑。
注释：柬汰：挑选、淘汰。
盈前尽珠玑，一一难柬汰。
译文：字字珠玑，摆满你的面前。无法选择，一个也不忍丢掉。
注释：石齿：尖峭的石滩。濑：湍急的水。
梅翁事清切，石齿漱寒濑。
译文：梅翁的诗文追求清新准确，就象寒泉冲激锐石，清冷峻峭。
作诗三十年，视我犹后辈。
译文：他已经写诗三十年，我写诗比他晚了不少。
文词愈清新，心意虽老大。
译文：他的心境虽已苍凉老大，文词却更加清新美妙。
注释：妖韶：同“妖娆”，娇艳妩媚。
譬如妖韶女，老自有余态。
译文：譬如那妖娆的美女，风韵犹存，即使已经半老。
注释：嘬：吃，咬。
近诗尤古硬，咀嚼苦难嘬。
译文：他的近作尤其古朴瘦硬，很难一下理解，需要反复咀嚼。
初如食橄榄，真味久愈在。
译文：像食橄榄，开始有些苦涩，味道越来越好。
注释：轹：超越，胜。
苏豪以气轹，举世徒惊骇。
译文：苏诗豪迈，以气势凌驾今古，所有的人只知惊叹称道。
注释：古货：以珍贵的古代文物喻梅诗。
梅穷独我知，古货今难卖。
译文：梅诗却被冷落，只有我能理解，正象稀世古物，今天难以卖掉。
二子双凤凰，百鸟之嘉瑞。
译文：苏、梅二人有如一对凤凰，都是百鸟回翔的征兆。
注释：羽翮：羽毛。铩：摧残、伤害。
云烟一翱翔，羽翮一摧铩。
译文：他们正在云间翱翔，羽毛摧折，一生穷愁潦倒。
注释：哕哕：凤鸣声。这里指歌诗唱和。
安得相从游，终日鸣哕哕。
译文：怎么才能追随他们比翼长空，终日腾飞，声震九霄？
注释：胡：为什么。
问胡苦思之，对酒把新蟹。
译文：为什么苦苦想这些问题，只因新蟹上市，对饮的往事在萦绕。

欧阳修（1007－1072），字永叔，号醉翁，晚号“六一居士”。汉族，吉州永丰（今江西省永丰县）人，因吉州原属庐陵郡，以“庐陵欧阳修”自居。谥号文忠，世称欧阳文忠公。北宋政治家、文学家、史学家，与韩愈、柳宗元、王安石、苏洵、苏轼、苏辙、曾巩合称“唐宋八大家”。后人又将其与韩愈、柳宗元和苏轼合称“千古文章四大家”。
