唐代：杜甫
十日画一水，五日画一石。
译文：十天画完一条河，五天画完一块石头。
能事不受相促迫，王宰始肯留真迹。
译文：他作画不愿受时间的催逼，贸然从事，经过长时间的酝酿后，才从容不迫地将真迹留于人间。
注释：能事：十分擅长的事情。
壮哉昆仑方壶图，挂君高堂之素壁。
译文：挂在高堂白壁上的昆仑方壶图，山岭峰峦，巍峨高耸，蔚为壮观。
注释：昆仑：传说中西方神山。方壶：神话中东海仙山。这里泛指高山，并非实指。
巴陵洞庭日本东，赤岸水与银河通，中有云气随飞龙。
译文：图中的江水以洞庭湖的西部为源头，一直绵延流向日本东部的海面，犹如一条银丝带，场面十分壮观，岸边的水势非常浩渺，纵目望去，好似天水相接，连为一体，与银河相通。画面上云雾迷漫，飘忽不定，云团飞动。
注释：巴陵：郡名。唐天宝、至德年间改岳州为巴陵郡，治所在今湖南省岳阳市，地处洞庭湖东。日本东：日本东面的海域。赤岸：地名。这里并非实指，而是泛指江湖的岸。赤：一作“南”。
舟人渔子入浦溆，山木尽亚洪涛风。
译文：在狂风激流中，渔人正奋力驾船向岸边驶去，山上的大树被狂风吹得倾斜了。
注释：浦溆：岸边。亚：通“压”，俯偃低垂。
尤工远势古莫比，咫尺应须论万里。
译文：王宰的画在构图、布局等方面堪称天下第一。
注释：远势：指绘画中的平远、深远、高远的构图背景。论：一作“行”，一作“千”。
焉得并州快剪刀，剪取吴淞半江水。
译文：他能在一尺见方的画面上绘出万里江山的景象，就好像用并州的剪刀把吴淞江的江水剪来了一半！
注释：并州：地名。唐朝时期的河东道，即今山西太原，当地制造的剪刀非常有名，有所谓“并州剪”。

杜甫（712－770），字子美，自号少陵野老，世称“杜工部”、“杜少陵”等，汉族，河南府巩县（今河南省巩义市）人，唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，杜甫被世人尊为“诗圣”，其诗被称为“诗史”。杜甫与李白合称“李杜”，为了跟另外两位诗人李商隐与杜牧即“小李杜”区别开来，杜甫与李白又合称“大李杜”。他忧国忧民，人格高尚，他的约1400余首诗被保留了下来，诗艺精湛，在中国古典诗歌中备受推崇，影响深远。759-766年间曾居成都，后世有杜甫草堂纪念。
