雁怯重云不肯啼，画船愁过石塘西。打头风浪恶禁持。
译文：重叠的彤云低压着，连大雁也吓得不肯啼叫了。当航船经过石塘西畔时，我心中的愁苦更加浓重。船儿被迎头打来的风浪恶作剧地摆布着。
注释：重云：重重云层。石塘：在苏州的小长桥。打头风浪：迎头风浪恶：猛，厉害。禁持：“禁”通“今”，摆布。
春浦渐生迎棹绿，小梅应长亚门枝，一年灯火要人归。
译文：迎着归棹，春天的河岸上已逐渐生出一层嫩绿；小小的梅树，新枝该长得压着门楣了吧？一年一度的灯节已经开始了，仿佛在催促我：快点回来啊!
注释：浦：水滨。棹：划船的工具，船桨，也指船。长亚门：长得靠近门楣。一年灯火：指春节至元宵节的灯笼、焰火之类。要：通“邀”。

姜夔，南宋文学家、音乐家。人品秀拔，体态清莹，气貌若不胜衣，望之若神仙中人。往来鄂、赣、皖、苏、浙间，与诗人词家杨万里、范成大、辛弃疾等交游。庆元中，曾上书乞正太常雅乐，他少年孤贫，屡试不第，终生未仕，一生转徙江湖，靠卖字和朋友接济为生。他多才多艺，精通音律，能自度曲，其词格律严密。其作品素以空灵含蓄著称，有《白石道人歌曲》等。姜夔对诗词、散文、书法、音乐，无不精善，是继苏轼之后又一难得的艺术全才。
