《植灵寿木》翻译及注释

白华鉴寒水，怡我适野情。
译文：江水映我白发影，郊游宜人自多情。
注释：白华：头发花白。鉴：照。怡：和悦，愉快。形容词使动用法。怡我：使我愉快。适：到……去。适野：到郊外去。情：心情。
前趋问长老，重复欣嘉名。
译文：笑问长老希奇杖，答我灵寿是其名。
注释：趋：快走。前趋：向前赶上。重：又，再。复：回答。嘉名：美名，指灵寿木名。
蹇连易衰朽，方刚谢经菅。
译文：遭逢不幸人易老，而立之年不经营。
注释：蹇连：这里指流放永州。方刚谢经营：言体力正当强健，可以到处规划创业。谢：辞，不能。柳宗元说反用《诗经》之意。
敢期齿杖赐？聊且移孤茎。
译文：今生不望王赐杖，自栽灵寿木一茎。
注释：齿杖：王授高年者的行杖。敢期：怎敢期望。聊且：始且。移：移植。孤茎：指一棵灵寿。
丛萼中竞秀，分房处舒英。
译文：花园药圃竞奇秀，分房篱外展落英。
注释：丛萼：萼花萼指柳宗元所种园圃。竞秀：争逐，表现最为茂盛。分房：犹言偏房，指柳宗元住所的偏房。舒英：舒展开花。
柔条乍反植，劲节常对生。
译文：韧枝柔条忽倒立，凸突劲节常对生。
注释：柔条：灵寿木枝细长，故为柔条。乍：偶然看见。反植：倒立，指灵寿木柔软的枝条，有时从上往下直立。劲节：指灵寿木枝条上凸出的强劲的枝节。常：时常,通常。对生：相对而生。
循玩足忘疲，稍觉步武轻。
译文：抚摩灵寿人忘疲，赏玩渐觉脚步轻。
注释：循：通“揗”，抚摩。玩：赏玩。稍：渐渐。步武：指步履，步伐。
安能事翦伐，持用资徒行。
译文：如此足胜齿杖赐，哪用剪伐助步行。
注释：翦：翦同“剪”：剪断。伐：砍伐。资：帮助。徒行：步行。

柳宗元（773年－819年），字子厚，唐代河东（今山西运城）人，杰出诗人、哲学家、儒学家乃至成就卓著的政治家，唐宋八大家之一。著名作品有《永州八记》等六百多篇文章，经后人辑为三十卷，名为《柳河东集》。因为他是河东人，人称柳河东，又因终于柳州刺史任上，又称柳柳州。柳宗元与韩愈同为中唐古文运动的领导人物，并称“韩柳”。在中国文化史上，其诗、文成就均极为杰出，可谓一时难分轩轾。
