绝域从军计惘然，东南幽恨满词笺。
译文：从军疆场的壮志难酬令人怅惘，东南形势的忧虑情怀注满诗行。
注释：绝域：隔绝的地域，言其远。此指我国边疆。惘然：失志的样子。指从军的愿望未能实现。东南：指我国东南沿海一带。当时英、美、葡等国已开始在东南沿海一带的广州、漳州(今属厦门)、宁波进行经济掠夺。词笺：写诗词的纸，亦可作“诗词”看。笺，古代小幅而极精致的纸。
一箫一剑平生意，负尽狂名十五年。
译文：赋诗抒怀和仗剑抗敌是我平生志愿，十五年来完全辜负了“狂士”声名。
注释：负：辜负。十五年：诗人于嘉庆十四年（1809）十八岁时成人立志，在北京与被目为“狂士”的著名诗人王昙订为忘年交，当时已在社会上小有名气，从那时到此时，前后正好十五年。

龚自珍（1792年8月22日～1841年9月26日）清代思想家、文学家及改良主义的先驱者。27岁中举人，38岁中进士。曾任内阁中书、宗人府主事和礼部主事等官职。主张革除弊政，抵制外国侵略，曾全力支持林则徐禁除鸦片。48岁辞官南归，次年暴卒于江苏丹阳云阳书院。他的诗文主张“更法”、“改图”，揭露清统治者的腐朽，洋溢着爱国热情，被柳亚子誉为“三百年来第一流”。著有《定庵文集》，留存文章300余篇，诗词近800首，今人辑为《龚自珍全集》。著名诗作《己亥杂诗》共315首。
