玉树歌阑海云黑，花庭忽作青芜国。
注释：玉树：即南北朝时陈后主所作的歌曲《玉树后庭花》，其内容大概是歌咏张贵妃、孔贵嫔美色的，被后世认为是亡国之音。歌阑：歌残、歌尽。海云黑：天海边乌云密布，预示国家将亡。“花庭”句：谓原本花团锦簇的宫廷转眼变成了荒草丛生的废墟。
秦淮有水水无情，还向金陵漾春色。
杨家二世安九重，不御华芝嫌六龙。
注释：杨家二世：指隋朝第二任皇帝隋炀帝。安九重：安居于九重深宫之内，喻指安于帝位。御：乘。华芝：即华盖，原指皇帝所乘之车的车盖，借指皇帝所乘之车。六龙：即六马，古代八尺以上的马称为龙。皇帝所乘之车由六马所驾。隋炀帝游江都，不乘车马而乘船，此句即此意。
百幅锦帆风力满，连天展尽金芙蓉。
注释：金芙蓉：疑为接上句锦帆而言，谓锦帆上所绣的金色芙蓉花，大概喻其龙船华美之意。
珠翠丁星复明灭，龙头劈浪哀笳发。
注释：丁星：闪烁貌。哀笳发：笳即胡笳，中国古代北方民族的一种吹奏乐器，似笛，音色哀凉。隋炀帝曾命乐工作《泛龙舟》等曲，其声亦哀怨。
千里涵空澄水魂，万枝破鼻飘香雪。
注释：涵空：水映天空。澄：平静。澄一作“照”。水魂：水中精怪。此句谓隋炀帝龙舟所行之处，水静天晴，连精怪们都畏惧其威严而不敢兴风作浪。“万枝”句：扬州有琼树，开百花。飘一作“团”。此句谓千万株琼树开花如一团团香雪，而其香气浓郁，又迎面扑鼻。
漏转霞高沧海西，颇黎枕上闻天鸡。
注释：漏：古代一种滴水定时器。转：指时间推移。霞高：晚霞升起。沧海西：日落于大海之西。颇黎：即玻璃，古代一种玉名，又名水玉。
鸾弦代雁曲如语，一醉昏昏天下迷。
注释：鸾弦代雁：泛指弦乐器。
四方倾动烟尘起，犹在浓香梦魂裹。
注释：倾动：指天下震动，国家不安宁。倾一作“澒”，烟一作“风”。
后主荒宫有晓莺，飞来只隔西江水。
注释：“后主”二句：后主，即陈后主。陈被隋灭，陈国都城金陵与隋炀帝江都皇宫只隔一条西江。末二句谓从陈后主荒宫之晓莺仅需飞过一条西江水就能到隋炀帝的江都皇宫，喻示隋炀帝荒淫无道，距离亡国也不甚远。

温庭筠（约812—866）唐代诗人、词人。本名岐，字飞卿，太原祁（今山西祁县东南）人。富有天才，文思敏捷，每入试，押官韵，八叉手而成八韵，所以也有“温八叉”之称。然恃才不羁，又好讥刺权贵，多犯忌讳，取憎于时，故屡举进士不第，长被贬抑，终生不得志。官终国子助教。精通音律。工诗，与李商隐齐名，时称“温李”。其诗辞藻华丽，秾艳精致，内容多写闺情。其词艺术成就在晚唐诸词人之上，为“花间派”首要词人，对词的发展影响较大。在词史上，与韦庄齐名，并称“温韦”。存词七十余首。后人辑有《温飞卿集》及《金奁集》。
