鸣蜩善择木，木美叶敷腴。
国于美荫中，自庆无他虞。
螳螂伺其便，欲进复趦趄。
怒臂俄一施，捕取如囚拘。
委身膏利吻，性命缠须臾。
均之细微物，一何强弱殊。
蜩科汝无识，自知其过欤。
物在宇宙间，谨默酒安居。
今汝独聒聒，书夜长喧呼。
汝闹力不足，彼静智有余。
胜负此决，谁谓汝非辜。
螳螂即得意，自谓零点良图。
那知仅一饱，燕鹊已窥觎。
出尔反乎尔，胡能独全躯。
乃知祸与福，不系巧与愚。
晓晓固不免，默默复何如。
置之不足道，燕坐观厥初。

庆元府鄞县人，字广微。袁燮子。少承家学，又受业于杨简。宁宗嘉定七年进士。为秘书省正字，奏称内外局势可惧，请严守帅之选，兴屯田之利。迁校书郎，又言边事之病在内不在外。历任监司及州府官，所至兴利除弊。入为中书舍人，屡奏边事当以上流为急，议和恐误事。累官至权兵部尚书、兼吏部尚书。卒谥正肃。有《蒙斋集》等。
