恨无端报晓何忙。
译文：猛然间窗外传来声声报晓，怎不叫人心头着恼？
唤却金乌，飞上扶桑。
译文：那报晓声唤出了太阳，在云树间挂得高高。
注释：金乌：太阳。旧传日中有三足乌，故以“金乌”代日。扶桑：神树名。《山海经》说它高三百里，植于咸池之中，树上可居十个太阳。
正好欢娱，不防分散，渐觉凄凉。
译文：欢情正浓，不想分别时刻已到，心头渐渐被愁意笼罩。
好良宵添数刻争甚短长？
译文：千金良宵，再添数刻时分，老天又何必计较？
喜时节闰一更差甚阴阳？
译文：销魂时节，就是多饶一更，想来也不妨大道。
注释：闰：在正常的时间中再增加出时间。阴阳：大道，此指道理。
惊却鸳鸯，拆散鸾凰。
译文：如今恩爱的鸳鸯心惊胆跳，和美的情侣分道扬镳。
犹恋香衾，懒下牙床。
译文：叫人舍不得离开被窝，好久才懒懒地着衣下床，挨一刻一刻是好。
注释：牙床：象牙床。

徐琰（约1220～1301年），字子方（一作子芳），号容斋，一号养斋，又自号汶叟，东平（今属山东省）人。元代官员、文学家，“东平四杰”之一。少有文才，曾肆业于东平府学。元代东平府学宋子贞作新庙学，请前进士康晔、王磐为教官，教授生徒几百人，培养的闫复、徐琰、孟祺、李谦等号称元“东平四杰”，学成入仕后，皆为元初名宦。
