“小明，回家乡看看吧？”爸爸再一次问我。我还是那句老话：“不，永远也不！”这时，勾起了我以前在家乡的事：我们睡觉的地方是睡在干干的茅草上，没有蚊帐，晚上蚊叮虫咬，害得我整宿整宿睡不着觉；门前是一堆堆的牛粪，又臭又脏，一脚踩下去，脚也不知变成了什么样；泥泞的路到处是水潭子，如果不小心踩到水潭子，整个脚就陷下去，好不容易把脚抽出来，可鞋子却留在泥潭里……爸爸好像看出了我的心思，对我说：“现在家乡‘昔非今比’了。”我暗暗地想：这是真的吗？于是我就跟着父母坐着汽车回家乡看望爷爷奶奶。
来到了家乡，啊！真美！难道这是我的眼睛花了？我揉了揉眼睛，没有呀？本来以前那坑坑洼洼、崎岖不平的小路，现在已变成一条平平坦坦的柏油路，路两旁种满了花草树木，蜜蜂在唱歌，蝴蝶在跳舞，高楼大厦拨地而起。我和爸爸来到叔叔家，哇，叔叔家也变了，墙壁刷得雪白雪白的，好像是粉装玉砌的，好像是银装素裹的。家具也崭新的，刻着龙凤图案。房子很大很大，他们再也不用灶头煮东西了，都换成煤气炉，方便快捷……我好像到了人间仙境。叔叔带我走进一个房间，掀开一块花布，呀，这正是我再熟悉不过的东西——电脑。叔叔熟练地操纵着电脑，犹如在谈钢琴似的。姐姐也有一台电脑，她也挺会打电脑。以前那重男轻女的旧社会观念现在也没了。我想不到家乡人的素质提高得那么快！吃过午饭，我悠闲地散步，看见远处那些农民不再用老黄牛拉犁耕地，而是用各式各样的拖拉机犁地。犁地时发出的声音如同赞扬家乡的变化。
家乡的人变了，地变了，交通也方便了，电话什么的都有了。可是什么让这些变了呢？我正百思不得其解，这时，两个妇女在谈笑风生。一个说：“还是政府好，我不重男轻女了。我现在才发现，原来女孩儿也是那么棒！”我恍然大悟，原来这是政府的功劳哇！我想：假若到了未来，这里一定变得更美好！
